History is repeating itself: NBC has again cancelled Timeless, TVLine has learned. Fans, though, should not yet give up all hope for some final closure.
Our sister site Deadline reports that NBC remains open to the possibility remote as it may be, given the logistics and financial imprudency of greenlighting a two-hour movie, to wrap up Season 2s tantalizing loose ends.
This is a sad day for the writers, actors, crew and especially the viewers of Timeless, co-showrunner Shawn Ryan shared on Twitter Friday. We are all extremely proud of what we made and know that it was more than just a show for so many of our fans. It became a passion and a cause for many of them.
If NBC is sincere in wanting a two-hour movie to give much needed closure to our amazing @NBCTimeless fans, we are ready to make it, he added. We dont want the journeys of Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus and the others to end yet.

One of the few tv shows I watched every week. So of course it got dropped!
Stopped watching tat show after the stomach turning “we have to make sure she turns dyke” episode.
I think most (if not all) tv shows are only going to have so much of a useful life before they run out of ideas and sort of become just an income source.
Sometimes it’s good to die in your prime and leave a beautiful memory, like Marylin, John and James Dean.
I loved how firefly ended - with a wrap up movie, and a very good one.
Haven’t seen it, but isn’t the lead a friend of Duchess Meghan’s?
Yeah she was at the wedding.
That’s cool. If the show is about stepping into history, guess fantasy and reality met at the wedding!
If only networks knew (and acted upon) how eager average Americans are for some intelligent non-liberalism indoctrination programming.
I’m still pissed that Firefly was cancelled.
Shiny
Anyone watching Condor?
We started in episode 2, were a little lost but caught on in E3.
11 CIA operatives assassinated in Washington. An employee erroneously blamed for it.
He’s on the run.
(another one-armed man did it I guess) /g
Pretty good so far . Rough language, how do they get away with that ?
“The Event” too, but I’m probably the only person that watched it.
U might watch movie three days of condor also
Same here!
The ONLY show I watched on NBC and one of the few that I watched on network television.
I always thought those costumes and sets were expensive, so I figured something like this would happen.
I watch the show, I like the show, BUT the liberals just can’t help themselves injecting liberal themes in EVERYTHING they do.
People are SICK of it. The END for a show on the bubble.
Yes, when you think about it, a season or two of a good show is really a lot of quality viewing. I was a fan of the show Limitless, which only made it through one season. I think it was at the coin-flip stage as to whether it was renewed. But they had wrapped up the story quite well in the finale. I also liked a cop show called Life, which starred Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi. It lasted two seasons (one strike-shortened), but all the loose ends were tied up like Firefly. I sort of look at those shows as great mini-series.
That sounds like it is based on the Robert Redford movie—Three Days of the Condor—great movie.
Most of the sets were locations, except the home base of the mothership. I guess location shooting is more expensive than studio production. Many of those costumes probably came from costume houses, but again youre right still probably more pricey than a show set completely in todays world. They moved production from Canada to California for season two, and that no doubt also bumped up the cost.
Still, I dont think the cost of production was that outlandish. No more than Gotham or The Last Ship I wouldnt think. When you look at it, most TV shows today are lawyer, cop, or doctor shows in a contemporary setting. Are there even any westerns right now?
Wasn’t that an old-ish movie concerning De Gaulle assassination attempt? Saw it a long time ago.
Think that was Day of the Jackal.
