Also was my first thought. And with poor sound quality at these events, they might not have heard the actual quote, just at the end where he said ‘Donald J. Trump’ - so applauded for that reason alone.

But the quote didn’t sound like something President Trump would say IMO.

There are countless videos where Trump quotes are read as Obama’s and the people on the street eat it up. What this kid did was asinine and disingenuous. Words do matter but actions speak much louder of course. NOBODY can say after eight years of Obama that they are better off unless they are a bureaucrat, criminal or welfare recipient.
