Hi TEXOKIE,
Sorry for butting in, and all that, but here's a way to do a link for single posts.
1) Find the post you want to link to. I'll use this post of yours I'm quoting and replying to, as an example.
2) Find the Post # (that is, that little number in bold like this. I've made it red so it'll really stand out.:
35 posted on 5/17/2018, 8:45:56 PM by TEXOKIE
[ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 25 | View Replies | Report Abuse]
3) *RIGHT* click on that number.
4) Click the "Post Reply" to whatever post you're replying to.
5) IN the "Your Reply" window, right-click and paste the address which you got from the bold number.
In this case, it is:
https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3656141/posts?page=35#35
6) Now use a little html wizardry. Enter the following text:
<a href=""></a>
Now, within that, cut and paste the address from the bold number, in between the double quotes, like this:
<a href="https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3656141/posts?page=35#35"></a>
That tells the tag where to look, when you click on it. Now all you need is some words for the viewer to click on.
For this example, I'll use the phrase THIS IS TEXOKIE'S POST #35. Type *THAT* in, between the > and < after the quotes, like this:
<a href="https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3656141/posts?page=35#35">THIS IS TEXOKIE'S POST #35.</a>
What it will look like, in your reply in the thread, is this:
When someone clicks on the words THIS IS TEXOKIE'S POST #35. -- they will be transported back to that post. Happy FReeping!
You are definitely one of the World’s Good People, grey_whiskers! thanks for the instructions.
I will be copying them off and placing them in my Q file stash.
A number of years ago, I did a bunch of the Sandbox functions, but was never very adept at it. I tabled my efforts as being too difficult and time consuming to try to do. It has only been in recent days that I’ve been reconsidering that decision.
I have been saving up hints such as your for the day when I get brave enough to put my toes in the water again! Thank Q again!
