After a weekend of high-stakes negotiations between Seattle City Council members and Mayor Jenny Durkan, the council voted unanimously Monday to tax the citys largest employers to help address homelessness.
Starting next year, the tax will be $275 per employee, per year on for-profit companies that gross at least $20 million per year in the city down from a $500-per-head proposal that Durkan threatened to veto.

Having paused construction planning on an office tower over the larger proposal, Amazon now will move ahead with it, a spokesman said after the vote. But the companys plans to occupy a skyscraper under construction are still up the air, he said.
We are disappointed by todays City Council decision to introduce a tax on jobs, spokesman Drew Herdener said in a statement

I thought Liberals were the most kind, caring, compassionate and, most importantly, GENEROUS people on the planet. But, I guess they're only generous with other peoples money, especially when it's taken from those people at the point of a gun or IRS audit.
Given what Social Justice Warriors, Bezos and the rest of Amazon are, you'd think they'd be offering the city double what is required. Because if you do the math, $275 per person/year, comes out to around $23/month. That's something like two less micro-brews and two less mocha chai latte cappucino's a month, per person. Surely the Liberal, Hipsters can sacrifice that.
Yeah, not so much, huh? All fun and games when you can talk about it, write about it, and protest about it. Different when you have to reach into your own pocket to help out.
And at the same time, create more homeless.
Sixbucks upset, too. Nobody out-SJW’s Leftist govt. apparatchiks!
Are they going to call it the Affordable Employee Act?
Were I advising street people in the Pac NW, I'd say "Get a bus ticket to Seattle. They have big bucks waiting for you!"
I wouldn’t be surprized if it turns out, that Amazon will leave there.
They just won’t say it publicly, right now.
They better enjoy it now.
The only question worth asking in Seattle is whether or not President Trump will let Seattle turn into a Detroit type sh**hole as a warning to the rest of the country or can enough of the population of the Socialist Republic of Seattlestan be red-pilled to stop it before the city hits rock bankrupt bottom?
My money is on Sh**thole. There are enough folks here who are dedicated to committing civil suicide via progressive virtue signalling to get the job done, and quickly. The more President Trump does to make the national economy sing, the deeper these psychos will dig the hole they are making for the city to spite him.
Crime will skyrocket, the police will remain handcuffed, and the answer will be gun control and higher taxes. Business owners will flee and the answer will be wage mandates and higher taxes. Druggies will become more brazen, the mentally ill will wander the streets in increasing numbers, and the answer will be decriminalization, more homeless recruiting programs and higher taxes.
Once it falls apart, the morons in charge, voted into office by the morons who dwell in Seattle, will blame Trump, and the moron voters will believe it.
Seattle voters deserves what is coming to them, and I hope they’ll get it, good and hard.
Already, in Seattle, the cops say "we can't do anything...." when business or property owners complain about vagrants squatting.
King County is having problems getting jurors - and court employee - to show up at the county court house. It has become a major camp site and is hard to get into the courthouse with out being hassled by vagrants.

Amazon can’t possibly be that stupid. Seattle’s tax is now “only” $275 per employee. But next month or next year, it’ll be back up to $500 per employee, or maybe more.
It’s under construction so it makes no sense to abandon it. However, Amazon may choose to not occupy it, meaning they will move somewhere else.
I shall call it the “pull the wagon tax”.
Yes, every good Commie should feel privileged to pull it.
If every registered democrat took one homeless person into their home, the problem would be solved overnight.
Only a very weak form of party registration exists here.
"Voters in the State of Washington are not required to declare a political party and no information on party affiliation is kept in the voter registration database."
Besides, the problem in the Seattle area is socialists and communists, even more so than the forever-present Democrats.
The “liberal hipsters” won’t pay the head tax. Their employers will pay the annual fee of $275 per employee. Already, employers are paying the $15/hr minimum wage. Businesses will not locate in Seattle I guarantee. The word will get out and businesses will black list Seattle.
Shouldn’t they already be doing that. As well as taking in at least one illegal alien family and muslim refugee family?
My guess from this point on Besos is buying himself time. I’m pretty sure behind closed doors (at least these would be the words out of my mouth), he said. “Find us a new city.” I’m sure they’ve alreeady been looking since this all began. If he doesn’t Seattle will just continue with the shake down and he has to know this . Bellevue is a much better option.. They just don’t have as much space. My guess is they will build the buildings. Use them for what they can. Then invest elsewhere, move and rent out the space downtown Seattle..
They’d be idiots not to.
Did Amazon say this? Is it in the article? I like it! (Maybe I need to read the article eh? lol)
