Any Christian with terminal illness who believes in the afterlife, would embrace a spirit of forgiveness towards others, in the hope of receiving forgiveness from God. Our ability to receive forgiveness from God depends on our ability to forgive our fellow human beings. There are many Bible verses dealing with unforgiveness:

Does anyone care?
As you judge others, you too will be judged... Sorry John. Your anger will hold you back.
He has a soul? How many innocent people in the Middle East have died because of the policies McCain supported.
No.
What happens after your death is of no consequence...................
You sold your soul to the devil? Yea but I wasnt using it anyway!
I think no brain McCains soul has been spoken for already.
I’s not what you do with others, it’s what you do with Jesus Christ. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
He didnt endure any torture in Vietnam , that is a myth he has spread.
Its part of the reason that Nam Vets and those very close to then (such as President Trump) hate MCCain for his self serving lies
Is there any evidence he ever believed this, the gospel?
No.
An aggressive brain tumor is eating away the part of McCain’s brain required for rational thought, and some are taking despicable advantage of the situation. He is leaving this world as a curmudgeon with many flaws. I’m no McCain supporter, but whether he goes to Heaven or hell does not rest on his funeral wishes.
What makes anyone think Trump wants to go?
McCain is only a senator.
No reason to act like he is a head of state.
If McCain has brain cancer, will he be judged for insane notions? I think not.

I am fairly sure at this point that he already signed his soul over to Satan. Now that endangers your soul.
But to answer the deeper question, also no.
You may forgive someone but that does not mean you are forced to have them around you before or after death.
I don’t like McCain but who he wants at his funeral has nothing to do with his salvation.
I remember Gen. Patton asked that Bedell Smith not attend his funeral.

I don’t think the devil is too picky on his new members.
I saw the movie as a young man, and it made a lasting impression.
Enough about the funeral. He is still living.
