The Minseries "Counterpart" on the Starz Channel. Who has Seen it?

"Counterpart", is a Starz original science fiction minseries.

The plot is as follows:

Howard Silk has been working for a bureaucratic UN agency based in Berlin for thirty years; however, his station is too low for him to be told what his work really involves. In fact, the agency oversees a crossing point to a parallel Earth (the "Prime world"), a copy of Howard's world which was created by East German scientists in 1987, and which has been diverging ever since. Silk's "other" self, his counterpart from the Prime world, is, among other things, a field agent who regularly makes crossings to Silk's world (the "Alpha world") to retrieve "others" who have gone rogue. Factional in-fighting in the agency in the Prime world spills over to the Alpha world, endangering Silk and his comatose wife, Emily.

I binge watched this series this week and was impressed with the story line and actors, especially actor J. K. Simmons in a dual role as Howard Silk.

I have always enjoyed good science fiction and this a very well done. It starts out slow but builds until you are hooked.

The basic premise is right out of Albert Einstien's theory of a Parallel Universe, although I believe that Einstein hypothesized that there were no limit to those.

It is a great series and left a unreal cliff hanger and I am glad to find out season two is being filmed.

If you don't have a Starz account you can buy this series on Vudu, Google Play, and Amazon.com. It's about $15 bucks for the the basic SD version. Cheaper than going to the movies now.

Anyone else seen this and what do you think????

Well, I’m a science fiction fan so I liked it. Those of us who have served our country overseas in Germany may feel oddly at home with the series.

I look forward to season 2.

I have it lined up to see soon. Check out the Canadian series “Travelers” if you like good SYFI. It’s filming its third season now.

Loved it. The Byzantine plot lines are a lot of fun to untangle.

I watched it when it aired. J.K. Simmons does an exceptional job playing dual roles. It's certainly a far cry from his Farmer's Insurance commercials. It's interesting to note that Olivia Williams (Emily Burton Silk), Harry Lloyd (Peter Quayle), and Richard Schiff (Roland Fancher), all starred together in WGN's tv series "Manhattan."

"Counterpart" has been renewed for a second season.

I’m a fan of JK Simmons, but didn’t initially find this series to be engaging. I’m going to try it again, though. Thanks!

I’ll have to look that one up. It got a 94% from Rotten Tomatoes. That’s great.

Thanks!

I thought it was a good Cold War thriller set in an interesting sci fi world.

Have been a fan of Simmons sine OZ a long time ago.

A superb movie

I walked out of the theater saying he deserved an Oscar for it——and he got one.

Saw it - liked it mostly. It’s a bit dry in parts and more of a character study than an action thriller. I wouldn’t call it sci-fi as much as a spy thriller with a sci-fi premise. JK Simmons makes the series.

I thought the finale was a little weak and I fear the writers aren’t quite sure where it’s going to go from there either - but I’ll keep watching.

“J.K. Simmons does an exceptional job playing dual roles.”

I know him before that in HBO’s OZ as the skin head Nazi leader in jail. Believe me, this was the first time I saw the guy and he was a real asshole in the series. Then I was shocked he was cast as J Jonah Parker in Spiderman’.
