A Fond du Lac man who holds the world record for "Most Big Macs Consumed" ate his 30,000th Big Mac on Friday.
Don Gorske said he ate his first Big Mac on May 17, 1972, and has enjoyed, on average, two of the sandwiches nearly every day since.
I take that first bite, it was the best thing I had ever tasted in my life, reads a pamphlet from Gorske that chronicles his hamburger habit.
An entry titled Summer of 1972 reads, When Im not at work, or going to McDonalds [sic], Im at County Stadium, eating a Big Mac while watching the Brewers, or Im cruising Main Street like everybody else."
Gorskes good health can be verified by asking his wife, a nurse practitioner, he writes.
My height is 62, [and] if I try hard, I can get up to 195 pounds, he writes.
There have been eight days that have not included a Big Mac for Gorske since he took that first bite of one in 1972, he wrote. The most recent was November 23, 2011, when McDonalds was closed for Thanksgiving Day. He thought he had a Big Mac saved in the freezer, but was mistaken.
Itll never happen again, he wrote.
If McDonald’s would go back to 70s era making Big Macs and fries, I would partake of them once in a while.
I’m not sure whether I’m supposed to be disgusted or impressed. My stomach hurts just thinking about this.
I have had like 6 or 7 in my entire life time. I haven’t had one for at least 9 years or more...
Years ago a friend of mine liked to show off by stuffing two Big Macs in his mouth at once - his other favorite sandwich was Spam and strawberry jam on Wonder Bread.
A friend of mine used to feed Big Macs to his Great Dane. He would throw the whole sandwich in the air and gulp — down the hatch.
“So Don, tell us that story about your wife’s cooking again.
UGH! One of those naturally thin people who can eat anything they want!!
The French fries used to be one of my favs, and I’m a silly food snob. The stupid Left wrecked them. On a road trip, I break down and get a fish filet.... Sometimes, pretty delish.
Last time I tried a Big Mac 3-4 years ago, I threw half of it away. Tasted like crap.
Never been a big French fry person, but I used to like McDs. Now they’re almost inedible.
Only thing I do there now are sausage Mc Muffins and breakfast burritos, but half the time they can’t even wrap a tortilla right.
Good for him! I know a lot of Freepers knock McDonald’s, but sometimes I get a hankering for a Big Mac and nothing else will do. That’s only once a month or so, not like the subject of this post.
Some McD’s are selling “Grand Big Mac” which is basically a Big Mac made with Quarter Pound patties. 860 calories of sloppy, gooey greatness.
“If McDonalds would go back to 70s era making Big Macs and fries, I would partake of them once in a while.”
Yeah. They taste like cardboard now. I might try one every couple of years or so in a pinch and are always surprised how awful they are. Then I go another few years without one until I have to be proved never to buy another one. It’s a cycle. LOL
Now that is going too far!
Ugh....
Aha! The Hamburglar unmasked at last!
The Mets pitcher Jacob DeGrom is also a big McDonald's fan - his typical meal consists of a Quarter Pounder (with cheese of course!), two Double Cheeseburgers, large fries and drink!
I wouldn't be able to move for two days.
Good luck Mr Gorske.
Title led me to believe it was all in one day. Not so impressed now.
