Malania = Ilsa. Maybe as someone else just said, we are in an earlier part of the movie. Remember Q also said up is down, back is front, purple is orange...ok, my part, just saying some roles reversed.
Various cast members running from Nazi control. All trying to get to America. They all want on that plane EXCEPT the Germans. The plane goes to FREEDOM.
Ilsa is an immigrant with a heart for liberty married to another man who’s spent his life speaking for freedom, trying to work behind the lines, in secret, to see the freedom of his nation. It is partly thru Ilsa’s “playing of” Rick that we even get the right characters to the end of the movie at the right time.
In this case (remember up is down) is Macaroni the Rick Blaine character being coaxed along by Ilsa to the right end? One reason this has been one of the few movies I’ve paid attention to is that the ending leaves one wondering so much, but it turns out RIGHT. However, recall when the movie was made and released we were still in the war and didn’t as yet know we would win.
I’m calling this more than my $.02. This one feels like $.04.
