DETROIT (AP) — A black 14-year-old boy who got lost in a Detroit suburban neighborhood while trying to get to school was shot at by a white homeowner after knocking on a door to ask directions, prosecutors said Friday, citing home security video and the account of the boy.
Jeffery Zeigler, a retired Detroit firefighter, was arraigned Friday on charges including assault with intent to murder.
Oakland County sheriff's deputies were called to Zeigler's Rochester Hills' home about 8:20 a.m. Thursday after a woman told 911 that her husband had chased a black male who tried to break in. Deputies learned that a shot had been fired and found Brennan Walker — unharmed — down the street.
Walker's statement to police differed from that given by Zeigler, according to assistant prosecutor Kelly Collins.
"We do have the benefit of home security video," Collins told the court Friday. He said Zeigler's account was not borne out by the video.

In this age of government-subsidized cell phones provided to anyone even remotely poor, I somehow doubt that this young man needed to knock on anyone’s door because he missed the school bus, and he didn’t need to knock on anyone’s door because he was lost, either, not with geolocation and directions on practically any phone. So, what was he doing? I think I know the answer, and I think the homeowner knew the answer too, that’s why he reacted as he did.
It isn't wise to have a security camera if it contradicts your story to police about shooting at people. This guy will likely get off easy, only because he missed.

People here would not be trying to make excuses for the guy that shot him.
True. Not only that, but there would be outrage at the audacity of the homeowner to shoot at a student. There would also be mention of how the homeowner is fried because his own security video presents evidence that will be used against him. Finally, a couple of posters would state how, if it were their child, they would go to that homeowner and personally introduce him to 00 buckshot.
Let’s just say that while we are better than DU, there are nonetheless many similarities between the two forums. Key among those similarities is tacit hypocrisy ...for example, all the criticisms directed against President Trump (and President GW Bush to a lesser but still unfair degree) by the Libs were oddly absent during the terms of Obama and Sleazy Bill. Totally absent. Unfortunately the one-way mirror is not exclusive to Liberals...

The narrative here is that white firearms owners sit around waiting for the opportunity to shoot at black people. I suggest that these clowns have a look at the interracial crime stats which are overwhelmingly black on white. This is even more pronounced given the difference in population size between the 2 groups.

I hope we hear follow up reports. Unfortunately, on many of these incidents, we never hear anything about it again.
In this case, the narrative is questionable.
It would make sense if this were early in the school year (like August), and the kid had just moved from city-x to city-y. In this story told? I would be asking how many times this kid has been late over the past year. I’m not buying into this story...it just sounds too fake.
Yes the AP is a bunch of race baiter. Think they wrote any articles about the black man who shot and killed the black man in Chicago?
Don’t hold your breath since such an article does not fit the narrative lie that theses horrible liberals write about white people being bad.

If he rode the bus to school, presumably every school day, how could he not know the route to school?
