Tourists taking the ferry from this tourist town to the island of Cozumel now walk down a wharf lined with police, heavily armed soldiers and bomb-sniffing dogs.
Those safeguards came after a Feb. 21 explosion ripped through one of the ferries, injuring 24 people, including five Americans. Explosives were later found on another ferry owned by the same company.

Mexico is a craphole.
The resorts were always next door to crap holes.
Yup. Jamaica, the same.
Don’t get me wrong, I TOTALLY SUPPORT accurate reporting on the crime in Mexico, but it sure would be nice if we had accurate reporting about the crime in places like BALTIMORE (i.e., Inner Harbor). I realize that there’s a lot of businesses and city revenue from there if white people keep frequenting the place - but they STILL should be told of the dangers that are there, 24/7. Same for other cities.
My brother-in-law keeps traveling to Mexico with his two sons, several times a year. I have tried to explain the danger to him, but it falls on deaf ears. He never follows the news. He would be better off going to Iraq for vacation.

Yes Baja is an isolated peninsula, but I was impressed at how copacetic everyone was with the los gringos del Norte.

Los Cabos now has become the most dangerous city in the world.... so, yes, I’ve lived in high crime-rate cities but it didn’t have an affect on me.
But Cabos was not touched by this stuff a short time ago, now it is. Everyone can make up their own mind.
American visitors and Olympians said much the same things about Germany circa 1936.
Poor and rural and scenic yes...extremely dangerous no.
Here, have a carrot, Bugs...
Are you Mexican?
Are you fluent in the mexican spanish dialect?
When did you start going to Los Cabos?
Are you aware that American tourists are murdered or simply vanish without a trace every year from the Los Cabos areas?
Good luck.
I thought tourism to Mexico was over years ago. I don’t think any of the cruise ships go there anymore.
Mexicon economy, money sent home from illegals, drugs, tourism, they need all three.
I am not interested in Mexico. Like bungee jumping with rubber
Yes, I always enjoy going to vacation spots requiring a police cordon. I feel so secure. </sac>
I’ve been to some very dangerous cities - never had any trouble because I stayed in the “tourist” areas away from where the real deal was going down....only a fool thinks because the “good areas of the place” seem nice that the area isn’t dangerous.
Thanks Extremely Extreme Extremist. Fentanyl is being counterfeited north of the border, and is potent in micrograms. I'd be very surprised if the formerly wildly lucrative trade in smuggling illegal street drugs isn't somehow related to a rising level of violence in Mexico, too little money spread a little too thin. And when the wall goes up, it will get worse. And UNTIL the wall goes up, the violence south of the border will drive more people north.
An observation...
When your police are on patrol with machine guns, you know your society is F**ked up.
Go peddle your dystopia somewhere else amigo...
