As a few Canadian groups have been mentioned, i will add the Crash Test Dummies who did some stuff that still sounds good 20 years later.
The live performance from a Bluegrass/Folk/Heritage band that amazed me forever was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band live in Lawrence, Kansas at Hoch Auditorium
They had forgotten more musical history than most people know.
