Social Security checks can be automatically deposited - upon request. Same thing with pensions and other income.

He may not have been required to file with the IRS and his property taxes would have been paid by his Mortgage Co. which could have been paid automatically from his bank.

Car tags and driving license may just have terminated for non renewal

Social Security now is all direct deposit I believe.

Social security, if he was collecting it, is direct deposited.

He would have it deposited automatically in his checking account. Bills were probably paid automatically out of that same account.

SS is going to want that money back.

Folks on SS, like me, do not get “checks”. The monthly stipend is automatically deposited into a bank checking/savings account. Saves the govt lots of money as compared to printing a check and mailing the check.

If the SS receptient is having his utility, insurance, property taxes, etc. bills paid by direct debit to his/her/its money account, then there are no unpaid bills.

If the mail is being dropped through a mail slot in the door instead of an outside box, then the mailperson is unaware of the mail recepients demise.
