Same here. Miles to the city. Combined slowest internet and cable is $150/mo. We have an old cable lineup that somehow has enabled us to get most every station offered so the cable company would love for us to make changes. If we did opt to downgrade the channels, we’d end up with their current package and pay more so we’re stuck.
I was thinking of going the same direction.
But it's not worth $100+ a month.
I think there might be some logic to this.
I keep my cable service through Comcast and receive absolutely excellent, glitch-free, lag-free streaming service to enjoy Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Hulu, HBO, and on and on.
I can't help but wonder if my streaming service is great precisely because I haven't cut the cord and Comcast is rewarding my loyalty. I sometimes think that if I cancelled my cable, suddenly my streaming would be lousy and full of problems.
Of course, Comcast would never admit to such a practice.
I have a digital antenna and pick up plenty of free over the air stuff, including ION TV which was on my Direct TV.
I have regular HULU and Netflix, and between the two more than I watch. I am getting ready to close my Amazon account and not renew Prime for several reasons. I also have One America News I pay for. My total expenditures for monthly entertainment is now $25 a month.
After running the numbers I am going to save almost $2000 a year getting rid of Direct TV and Prime. Plus ATT gave new a deal on my Internet for $40 a month, down from $69.
So I am adapting to the new environment along with my 91 year old Aunt who I take care of. I find we are watching more of the old TV shows on ME TV, The Grit Channel and others that are free. Lots of great old westerns, My favorite is “Laramie”.
My advice is give it some time, you will be amazed what you can get along without.
What's the fricking point? Their app SUCKS! Reboot the device alright, right after removing Hulu!!
Fox news channel?
They have the absolute worst user interface of any streaming service. They tried to give me 3 free months when I quit them and I told them they would have to pay me to use Hulu.
The Sony owned Crackle Channel is the worst on commercials and such. I started watching a series they had but will have to give it up, way too many commercials.
So you are using the Hulu app through the Samsung SmartTV apps. You might want to try the Hulu app on the Roku.
Some of the apps on my Samsung SmartTV tend to be slow and choppy.
The Hulu app on the Roku does not have that issue.
On the other hand, the Youtube app on the Roku is cumbersome, but the Youtube app on the Samsung SmartTV is a joy.
Also, those championing the Over-The-Air-Antenna are right about it if you live in a close proximity to the towers.
90% of the cable shows you can find on Roku.
80% of the content on Roku’s 2700+ channels can’t be found on cable.
time out....
Youtube and other video streams are your friend. (really)

Chow Ciao!
Netflix has spent a lot of money on original programming and I have a ton of it in my list to watch. Right now I am watching “Altered Carbon”, and the TV series “Nikita”. Good mindless entertainment.
Zapped the FakeBook account too.
Of course, I only had three friends. (Sad Day)
Most people use Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu.
Between the three of them, I always have something to watch.
I wondered the same 8 years ago until I learned that Comcast owns Hulu and a few other streaming services. They saw the writing on the wall early.
So, No, they won’t throttle you back. They are vested in this as well.
Can you get fox news via netflix
I only had FreeRepublic when they were down last year.
Dish network quoted 29,95 but wound up billing $86. It took a couple months and direct letters to the boss home to get the bills stopped. And they dumped without any warning the couple of channels we watched. I will never go back. We get regular dumb programs including Lost in Space and f troop and love boat and democrappy now and StarDreck all versions and one of the better preachers who got famous by renting whores for many years. All free over the air. And theres a ton of free stuff online certainly no worse mind rot than on Dish and a thousand dineros cheaper each year
