ang up those baseball cleats, Timmy, and start getting into football shape.
Im talking to you, Tim Tebow, because you will no doubt be the No. 1 draft pick and starting quarterback of the inevitable Orlando team when the XFL reinvents itself and begins play once again in 2020.
WWE founder and chairman Vince McMahon announced Thursday he is going to re-start the XFL the league McMahon and NBC unveiled for one forgettable season back in 2001.
McMahon, obviously seeing an opening and wanting to take financial advantage of the NFLs sagging popularity, struck all the right chords during his announcement on Thursday.
Unlike the NFL, McMahon said the new XFL would NOT give players a forum to take a personal stance on social issues while on the playing field (Translation: No kneeling during the national anthem), nor would XFL teams be allowed to sign any player with a criminal record (Translation: No SEC players allowed bada-bing!).
Actually, at least one former SEC player will be welcomed into the league, and that, of course is Tebow.
"You want someone who does not have any criminality associated whatsoever with them, McMahon said. Even if you have a DUI you will not play in the XFL. So that will probably eliminate some (players). Not all of them. If Tim Tebow wants to play, he can very well play."
And what better place for Timmy Terrific to play than Orlando smack, dab in the middle of a state where he is from and where he first became cultural icon. Although its not been announced that Orlando will get an XFL franchise, you know its going to happen. After all, we are the biggest market in America without an NFL team...

Me, too! And I’d rather have a simultaneous root canal and IRS audit than fly. But to see Tebow play, I’ll get on a dang plane.
Very cool.
I still remember that “He Hate Me” guy.
Looks like Vince learned from his mistakes on the old XFL.
Done right, a new Pro league could do very well.
Interesting in the Vince is friends with Trump and Trump was heavily involved with the USFL. So they both have experience with alternative pro football leagues, and probably both don’t like the NFL very much.
Interesting to know what cities will host. It’s going to be a winter League, starting in Jan 2020, So i would imagine mostly southern cities, unless they can play in a domed stadium somewhere.
Would fully support an American football league! The NFL has been dead to me for a while.

I’m really starting to look forward to this.
Old XFL teams:

New teams? My guess:
Orlando, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Nashville, Salt Lake City.
All places ignored by the NFL. The NFL teams are increasingly located in declining cities. Popular with the older crowd, but the grandkids live in places like the list above.
Which will make the eventual merger talks fun to watch. The XFL locates in young areas with growing economies, inks a smart media deal, they could set the terms...except the grandkids play soccer.
I’ll give it a chance. I’m a sucker for alternate leagues.
Love College FB and miss the NFL. But I won’t watch until they stop disrespecting my country.
USA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NFL.
I doubt if any of the commentators on this thread live in or have visited Orlando recently. Orlando has become the Detroit of the southeast. It’s Florida’s dirty little secret. A jumble of crumbling infrastructure nightmares with broken roads and perpetually uncompleted construction projects, populated by unlicensed and uninsured third-world motorists breaking all speed limits and daring you to kill your vehicle’s suspension just to get out of their way. Zero law enforcement. No one speaks English. This is the city where that Muslim massacred the revelers in that night club. The only reasonably sane areas are off International Drive around the theme parks, which areas are kept in pristine condition just to keep the tourist dollars rolling in. Once you leave the tourist mirage, Orlando as a city is a freaking disaster. Travel there at your own risk. I’ve lived in Florida for 34 years. I remember in the 90’s Orlando was a very nice city. I used to work there. Orlando’s decline as a viable city over the past 25 years has been absolutely appalling. Sports teams? Yeah right.
I will support the XML just to quicken the demise of the NFL.
Interesting take on the city. Sounds like North Las Vegas ...
Nashville had a team. Memphis fought for one for decades only to get one that was to go to Nashville the next year. Memphis didn’t support the Oilers then I hate being forced to watch the Titans now
San Antonio - I like it ...
I’m sure Vinnie Mac would love to bring in some “name” players for the first season of his new league. I agree that Tim Tebow would be an excellent choice to sign. However, he’s still pursuing a baseball career with the Mets organization. I saw an item the other day saying that the Mets had invited him to spring training (don’t know if that’s been confirmed or not, however.) In two years, when the XFL is ready to start play, Tebow will know whether or not he’ll be able to play baseball at the major league level. If he does make the Mets roster, I can’t see him giving that up to roll the dice on the XFL. Also, would McMahon be willing to match the kind of money that Tebow could make playing for the Mets?
Richmond Confederates. That will cause heads to explode.
Every team should be called the “Redskins”.
