However, the evidence is there are micro-seconds available for taking aggressive action against them before one is frozen and unable to move. Instant fierce anger against them has prove effective in a few cases, however.

It's better to keep in mind "we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places."

The Name and Blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony of those are more powerful than fists, clubs, bullets with such critters--at least on the part of authentic believers.
