I was lucky enough to watch a shuttle re-entry from my front yard in Fort Worth one cool clear night. It was impressive.

We might have seen the same one. It's a sight you'll never forget.

I was in the US Navy Boot Camp at RTC Orlando from Oct 1988 through Dec 1988. We did get to watch one launch, although it was “down the road” at KSC from us. Still lit up the sky pretty good.
