Ok, but believe it or not, I am old enough to remember outhouses. My great grandfather was born in 1870. He never saw the need to upgrade to the newfangled indoor plumbing. As a wee lad of 5 , I remember a visit to his homestead. You think that 2 am trips to the john with the lid up are rough...

And the truth is stats don’t matter when it comes to each person. We married for love, committed to til death parts us, never looked back, and we kept our names. No regrets.

My son and daughter in law are conservative, traditional people, but my daughter in law kept her maiden name, because she has a professional license, and has a known name in a regional, albeit small, area of academia. My son’s no wimp, and was not offended by it.
The important thing is for daughters and sons to have their father’s last name after DNA testing proves who that is.
This will be a complete surprise to most people, but Buffalo, New York, and its surroundings is one of the most beautiful places on this planet. Sure we have four seasons. But we know how to celebrate the changes in the weather. We aren’t quite Canada. We aren’t quite the midwest. Appalacia is an hour away. The “East” is a few hours away. John Denver called West Virginia, ‘almost heaven’. He was wrong. Western New York. Not really on the way to anywhere else. But if you ever find yourself in the vacinity, stop by. I agree; and what last names do the kids have?
I think people in England do something like that (no surprise; they also still have a queen). If I was considering marriage today that would be a deal killer; my wife took my last name and there was no discussion about it at all.
Spanish & Hispanic women usually DO change their last names; often their maiden name becomes like a middle name.

I judge their “husbands”, too.
I kept my name and I don’t think anybody views Mr. GG2 as less masculine. :-)
I honestly have no idea; I file this under “wypipo problems”...
