Control your animal. Anything on four legs that comes into our home uninvited will either be killed and disposed of or killed and eaten.
One exception. A few years ago when my in laws were in town I locked the screen door open to carry in their luggage. When I came back to close it a small bright yellow gosling was in the entry way.
No freaking clue how it got in, and no sign of momma goose anywhere.
No, we didnt eat it. Called animal control and they probably fattened it up and ate it.

You were probably lucky, it might have been a pit gosling.
A free goose was a nice surprise, should have kept it for your yard. They make great watch animals honking at any trespassers.

Controlling/Containing your dog is one of the main principles of Responsible Dog Ownership.
It prevents occurences such as this from happening.
