Better Ingredients. Better Pizza. More NFL Anthem Protests. Less Sales. That was the message Papa Johns CEO John Schnatter sent on Wednesday.
The NFL has hurt us, Schnatter said during a conference call, according to ESPN. We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this.
The CEO, who famously stars in the companys commercials alongside NFL legends like Peyton Manning, also said he thought the national anthem issues had been nipped in the bud last season

I’m going to guess their terrible pizza also plays a role.
I’ve never had one of their pizzas.
Your guess is wrong.
Lots of very good quotes at the link.
Want to see sales jump? Announce you are pulling your ads. It worked for the Pittsburg Army Ranger who for a day made us believe he had backbone and his jersey sales went to #1. When he caved the next day, his reputation went with it.
I always liked them.
PJ’s is a couple of clicks better than pizza hut to me.
Well PPJ, you should team up with Home Depot, Lowes, and ACE. Lots of pizza in home projects.
Business is probably not going to get better now that one of his larger franchisees and advertisement stars, Payton Manning, has been accused of sexual harassment
I have and I like Papa John’s, but I am boycotting every business that runs advertisements during NFL games. Together we can make a diffrence.
Gonna have to agree with laplata. Their pizza is descent... not artisanal, but as good as the other chain franchises if not better.
I ate one of their pizzas back in college during the Super Bowl with my dorm mates. Hey man, I was hungry and back then, they were not with the NFL. It;s not like the party served Ben and Jerry ice cream. Id rather lick dog poop than eat that lefty crap.
I think their pizza is pretty good.
I did - only once. It was NOT good.
We have a couple of unbeatable, local pizza places here... super!
I don’t Papa John’s can compete with them
My feelings exactly.. Their pizza is the poorest in our area IMHO.
No comparison to a good mom-and-pop shop or the better regional chains, but of the nationwide, big chains (Dominos, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars) they are far and away the best.
You mean when they hired a Clinton flack as the communications face?
