She’s not wearing a flag. She’s wearing an outfit that is marked with stars and stripes, and has a motif similar to Old Glory. But it’s no more a flag than a t-shirt with a bowtie printed on it is a tuxedo.

Except she’s not wearing a flag; she’s wearing clothes with a flag motif. And while your usage is legally correct, you can’t desecrate actually flag because it’s not holy. You defile a flag; you desecrate a church, grave, tomb, bible, corpse...
