CDC -self-protection from vectors/ mosquitoes
Used by more Park Rangers at the Everglades than any other solution.

I counsel my patients to apply DEET before their plans even land. Would hate for them to get bitten by a mosquito while walking across a tarmac while deplaining
Any number of attractive blooming plants are insect repellent, several herbs too. Assuming you’re not allergic you could put some lavender, lemon verbena, lemon basil, citronella grass and such in planters by your door, pinch off a handful when you go out and rub it on your exposed skin.
Guess when billy rucklehaus banned DDT they also destroyed the formula for it? I’m sure 3M or evil Monsanto or some other chem company would be more than happy to whip up a bunch. Are we that stoopid? Yeah, probably. I suppose it was the glow-bull warming of the day. Sadly millions have died thanks to ecowankers misguided crap.
25% DEET, has worked for me against black flies too
Here in Florida, after the hurricane, the mosquitoes have organized themselves into air squadrons....
Tabard if you can get it. Used widely in South Africa and also the UK.
I wonder what those Louisiana Swamp People/Alligator hunters use?
If you don’t wish chemicals, try the essential oil Lemon Verbena. Mosquitos hate it and people think it smells nice.
Get a small spray bottle and just put 30-40 drops into the bottle filled with water. Spray every exposed skin except eyes. This is super fast and will last about an hour or two. As long as you still smell it on your arm, the mosquitos won’t bug you.
If you are out for a whole day, you will need to make up a cream to apply that lasts longer. Can try putting the drops in a tin of coconut oil and pure shea butter. Experiment. Coco oil is of course oily, and shea butter is thinker and harder to mix. Which is why using both and putting in a little cream jar (found at Whole Foods and Sprouts in the essential oil aisle) is convenient for you.
My kindergartener is allergic to mosquito bites, so this lemon verbena is what we use. Right now we don’t have much exposure but we used to live near a pond and it worked so well.
Garlic. Real vanilla if you have the money.
An all body tick suit helps. They use them on African safaris.

Do not trust the CDC on anything, please.
I know it is unusal, but I rarely if ever get bit by mosquitoes...Neither does my sibling.
Seriously, I go out at dusk and they don’t bite...They come by my face due to Co2, but never bite.
Not sure why.

Avon’s skin so soft is supposed to be good.
Last week they finally let us back into our homes in the Keys from the storm.
First night we spent on the back porch since we had no electricity. There was no wind that night so you were at the mercy of the bugs.
They bit us big time that night and made us appreciate it when we got the electric back the next day.
Smoke. A steady cloud of smoke around you keeps the mosquitoes away.
