The iPhone X is priced at $1000. $1000. For a phone.
And it is made in China.
If it’s useful to you, it’s not obsolete.
Can you name a phone that isn't made in China? For what it's worth, much of the iPhone content is made in the USA - design, chips, glass. For those who buy Samsung, those Samsung phones are near 100 percent commie Chinese products, Samsung owns and operates design and manufacturing plants in China using Samsung Chinese workers. Go gripe about Samsung.
I wish any of these new iPhones had the design success of the iPhone 4 - to date the most attractive and most ergonomic iPhone.
I loose the earphone jack but gain an A11X processor.
Fair trade to me, and a very good ROI on the small baby.
HTC? Taiwanese company...don’t think they build in commie China.
From a simple google search of HTC, various references to HTC manufacturing in commie China, including this link:

HTC has a number of facilities across mainland China and Taiwan, which it uses to manufacture its own smartphones. The Shanghai factory, in particular, was built in 2009 at a cost of about $32.2 million.
HTC has been sued for various patent infringement of Apple technology in it's phones. They used to have a large stake in Beats, which Apple now owns. HTC is definitely making phones in commie China.
OK, given the relations between ROC and PRC....unexpected!
Yes, strange bedfellows. The Taiwanese love Japan and hate mainland China. But even Japanese companies do strong business with mainland China, as do the Koreans. Look at the business done between the USA and commie China, IBM had strong ties there and even sold their PC business to Lenovo of China. It's all about the money.
OK, money, I get that. In my line of work, IP, I see that the PRC blocks - by being an obnoxious bully - the ROC from int'l treaties such as the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) or the int'l trademark system (Madrid Agreement/Protocol). Costs my clients thousands more in each instance.
The U.N. pu$$ies?...crickets...
Well, given all that, I'd have hoped the ROC at least made the phones they sell themselves and gave the PRC the one finger salute. Guess I was wrong about that.
I cant take the chance for security to be compromised on an Android but believe that IOS offers as close to safety as I can afford.
I wont wait for the X so opted for a slightly less expensive phone. Not much less expensive but with the features to keep it useable for many years.
