Aronofsky and Paramount's mother! is coming in behind expectations after becoming one of a dozen or so films to ever get slapped with an F CinemaScore from audiences. The prestige title grossed an estimated $3 million from 2,368 theaters on Friday for a projected $8 million debut (mother! had been tracking to open in the low teens).
Also featuring Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, mother! made its world premiere earlier this month at the Venice Film Festival before screening at the Toronto International Film Festival to generally strong reviews, even if it has divided some critics.

The true nuts probably don’t care if it loses money.
Mother...Pfeiffer!(Snicker, snicker)
“It” was disappointing. Lots of cheap “real quiet then a sudden loud noise and something jumping out” shocks but not really scary in the sense of there being an actual hairs standing up s and of dread that I imagined. The kids are good in it though.

There’s a sucker born every minute.
I hope the movie does worse than Miss Sloane.
Probably negatively effected by Climate Change.
If people aren’t going to movies that means they are driving less, so in a way Hollywood is actually doing something good for the environment.
I miss the 1980s. I would have to imagine Michelle Pfeiffer does too. She was awesome back then.
Haha! Well played! =D
I haven’t gone to the movies in years, but i plan on going to see the Death Wish reboot in November.
If the trailer is making the snowflakes melt, i’m in.
best horror movie I’ve seen in quite some time, perhaps a decade, is called “The Evil Within”, and it’s on Amazon Prime.
It was apparently about the childhood nightmares of some wealthy madman who obsessed about making a movie about them before he died during that 20 year long process from side effects from his drug addiction.
The movie is very good, it is dark and disturbing.
And the one thing that makes it work is an Academy Award winning performance by the actor who plays the main character, a “retarded” boy. His performance is so good that it just blows the mind to watch it.
I love a good horror movie, and I really hate a bad one. I have no interest in seeing “It”. I’ve read the book and seen the earlier movies, and meh.
Ed Harris and Jennifer Lawrence are getting their political rewards at the box office.
Ahhhhh, sweet memories of Michelle Pfieffer...
A very rare creature.
Maybe they should have named to movie.....”Mother Fuc&er
If you don’t have a good story, then you might as well do a documentary.
That’s a great comment. I think I’m going to use that.
I’m not going to the movies anymore to do my part for the environment...
That crapfest wont get a red cent out of me. Scrooge leftist Hollywierd and its despicable denizens.
A National Review columnist said “mother” is extremely anti-Christian, especially of the Catholic variety.
