It does not even look good on the promos.
in that it will go only 8 episodes? /s
I watched Quark and back then show disappeared and you didn’t know what happened I remember “On The Rocks” was on Cover TV Guide dated May 15, 1976 & then was gone. May 17, 1976
Ex-wife as XO, huh? Perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky that it’s not his ex-husband.
Pilots are usually shaky. Takes a few episodes to find footing.
That was fun.
Thank you.
Quark was good stuff.
True. I will give it a shot.
I actually liked Quark. It was funny.
But it was a victim of overkill. It was one of those shows that came about because of the success of Star Wars. There were others, Battlestar Galactica, Moon 1999, Space Academy, et al, most of which lasted just one season. People just got tired of ‘space’ shows....................
Wasn’t Quark the show that had an early depiction of a transsexual character named Jean/Gene?
yes, but I only watched the show back then , and never saw repeats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quark_(TV_series)
MacFarlane is a behind the cameras type guy that keeps trying to be in front of the cameras and reliably fails.
You guys seen it?
It’s decent. Fun and light.
McF is not a great actor and the dramatic elements are maybe on a fan fiction level, no need to over-analyze it.
Adrianne Palicki is hot as hell. And the little Brunntte’s not bad either (appearance wise, not terrific acting, and she’s way too human acting for an alien). Scott Grimes is pretty good.
The uniforms have pockets, imagine that. I remember a scene from TGN where Riker had to stick something in his boot for want of pockets.
There are ugly gay aliens but they have the excuse of not having females in their species.
No. I really can’t stand McFarlane.
I was surprised by the third episode. I heard in advance that they would be debating gender issues, assumed it was going to be my jumping off point, and was surprised the heroes took the position they did. That they gave good arguments to both sides is surprising for Hollywood.
I also noticed for the first time tonight that Brannon Braga is the executive producer. He is generally reviled for his presiding over the perceived downfall of Trek. I can’t argue too much against that, though I do like Voyager more than many do. In fact, though the comparisons of The Orville are usually drawn to The Next Generation, I would say it feels very Voyagery so far. The excellent title sequence is a close rip of Voyager.
Okay, so I’m on board for now.
