By the time the College Football Playoff selection committee gets ready to reveal the final four in early December, the opening week of the season will have faded into the rearview. Teams that have plowed through their conference schedules can make a strong final impression by winning their league title games, while at the same time hoping other contenders suffer a late L. But the matchups that take place early in the season can carry just as much weight in the eyes of the committee. Whether its two blue bloods squaring off in an NFL dome or a fringe top-10 team welcoming a frisky mid-major to campus, season openers can be the difference between a squad earning a ticket to a national semifinals or settling for a New Years Six Bowl with no path to the title game. What youll spend hours watching this weekend, in other words, matters a lot.

Several of those are not particularly interesting.
Ohio State against a mediocre Indiana and Oklahoma State vs. Tulsa for instance.
Roll Tide!
My 2nd game is Florida v. Michigan. Luv the SEC teams playing big team programs out of conference.
Troy vs. Boise State could also be interesting.
si_com should be banned from FR...its left wing garbage and from a political point of view worse than ESPN (but they don’t have a network to expose their left wing garbage to those who won’t take the time to read)...
The Vols and GA. Tech on MNF.
Nice.
I will be at the game. My two favorite schools (I grew up a huge Meechagan fan). But of course, I gotta go with my Gators. Actually this is Florida's first regular season non-conference game out of state since 1992!
UF vs UM is bigger than many of those listed. WVU and VoTech should be a war.
So glad college football is here.
Rammer Jammer! Saturday can’t come soon enough. :)
Would love to see IU kick THE ass of OSU !
UF has so many players suspended, I think Michigan is going to kill us.
IMHO, we’re still a year or two away from seriously challenging for anything.
Yeah....
Roll Tide, roll...
Round the bowl and down the hole...
Roll Tide, roll.....
Me too but it is not going to happen. Ohio State just too strong.
I’ll never understand conservative’s love affair with college football. Colleges and universities are the most left-wing organizations in America. Even more left-wing than the NFL. And we all know about the networks covering the games.
Wasn’t last weekend week 1?
RTR,
However the fact is either team can lose this game, win out and they will almost certainly be in the playoff.
My little joke...;^)...
You never know about ok. State. They seem to AG out and usually in tulsa and tulsa may be able to last 3 qtrs
