Northeasterners, keep your mittens, boots and show shovel handy.
The Farmers Almanac that goes on sale this week predicts a snowy winter from Maryland to Maine with five coastal storms to bring winter misery to the region.
The publication, now in its 200th year, isnt afraid to go out on a limb with long-term weather forecasts that rely on a formula founder David Young first used in 1818 that utilizes sunspots, tidal action and other factors shunned by modern scientists.
Editors are looking to redeem themselves after missing the mark when heavy snow failed to materialize in the Midwest and the Middle Atlantic states were milder than anticipated last winter. [ ]
The 2018 edition dubbed this winter: The cold, the dry, and the wet, and the wild. Its reclusive weather prognosticator, who works under a pseudonym, suggests colder-than-normal temperatures for eastern and central regions, wetter-than-normal weather for southeastern states and drier-than-normal conditions for the nations western third that was pummeled by snow last winter. It also predicts wild winter variations for the area where Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma meet.

yep that’s Winter
should read “was no snow”
I check weather underground daily. Their short term predictions are very good.
Used to use the weather channel website but it got screwed up. Kept saying I needed to update my iOS to access their site.
Farmer’s Almanac predictions are akin to using a Ouija board, IMO. Legend has it that they predicted snow in July in some place and it actually happened.
If that Global Warming don’t get here pretty soon, I am going to start having second thoughts about the whole darn shootin’ match.
And how often are they right? You might as well consult a Magic 8-Ball.
Snow in the northeast? Holy moly! What’s the world coming to?
the NOAA predicts higher than average temps for the entire eastern half of the country for DEC-JAN-FEB.
Works for me. Most recent winters in beautiful mid-Michigan have been mild with little snow and lots of sunshine. Last winter I had only 3 snow-shoveling events.
Ask algore if that will be warm snow?
Well, I do enjoy my skates on the Rideau Canal wearing items from my vintage hockey sweater collection or snowshoes up in Gatineau Park.
Historically the Farmers Almanac is accurate about 80% of the time. Not a bad record.
I like my app WTForecast. today it says....Sunshine on my shoulders doesn’t make me happy. It makes me friggen sunburned. lol
very funny. I like sunshine, but the pollen is often intolerable.
Well it’s supposed to be 101 today so it’s right. lol
I currently have a teenage back to school pool party going on outside so I’m staying in where its nice and cool.
FAKE NEWS!!
The Northeast will never see snow or cold again due to uncontrollable runaway Global Warming, see AlGore.
Hi! Is that a real site? (Or a joke, you know...) Can you post a link? Because I find accuweather.com is not so accurate, actually. Thanks.
