I’m with you on that. Even at the big amusement parks like Six Flags or Disneyworld one can’t be sure of the safety records of their rides.

That’s my wife’s attitude towards the rides at our local district fair. Look at the people running them—they likely assembled them too.

Whenever I take an amusement park ride, I expect their is a chance I might die. Just like when I walk into the waves of an ocean or when I take a jetliner up into the sky.

You could die.

My Dad told us to avoid fair and carnival rides, because they don't have lawyers enforcing maintenance the way DLand and Knotts do.

Nowadays? I remember riding a parachute ride at the county fair with my seat held on by a rusty bent nail. Even at the age of 10 or so, I didn't think that was a very good idea. Of course, this was a long time ago, when kids just bounced ....

Many states do not regulate them. They should fall under the elevator inspection areas of responsibility.

Every state regulates those.

Depending on the state carnival rides are some of the most inspected and regulated assets. Not sure about Ohio but I lean towards impugning the value of the entire inspection system like the value of the local health and safety inspectors.

You better avoid driving over bridges then, too. Remember the bridge collapse over the Mississippi river in Minneapolis a decade ago? It happened because of excessive corrosion, too, and was not caught by inspectors.
