I never remember my mom, in the limited times I had them, causing that problem. Then I started making them in my quest to be the next Arnold, and I found this was a common “thing”. I thought the same thing as you—is this a new phenomenon? Or am I doing it wrong? I have been successful as of late—I boil the water and let it sit there for 10 minutes at least. And I add baking soda to the water.

Finally. You have posted the way to get eggs that cook perfectly, with no green ring around the yoke.
Once you bring them to hard boil, cover them and sit them in the water for ten minutes. (12 or 13 minutes if they are Big eggs).
Put them in ice cold water when they’re done. Let them sit there. Crack the shell and even roll them on the counter to crack the shell in multiple places. Let them sit there in the water with a cracked shell for ten minutes. You sit them in the water so the water can get between the egg and the membrane.
The shell and the membrane fall right off.

How well a hard boiled egg peels depends upon the age of the egg. Fresher eggs do not boil and peel well at all. I get my eggs straight from the hens so I have to let them age in the fridge a couple of weeks.
I told those newfangled bulbs are lethal if you break them so it is probably just as well they don’t know how to change them. As for eggs? Those cholesterol-filled missiles are bad for you anyway. Tofu and sprouts. That’s the food of tomorrow.
I didn’t know camels laid eggs...
