With hours to go before the House is set to (finally) vote on Paul Ryans health-care bill, the Trump administration is putting a full-court press on recalcitrant Republicans to rally votes. Last night, the White House sent senior officials including Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon to Capitol Hill to deliver an ultimatum to wavering House members: Pass the bill or Trump is moving on to other priorities. The message was intended to put blame for a failed vote on Congress.
The failure to repeal and replace Obamacare would be a stinging defeat for Trump. But it would be an even bigger defeat for Paul Ryan, who has all but staked his Speakership on passing this bill. And in the hall of mirrors that is Washington, the big winner to emerge out of the health-care debacle could be Steve Bannon. Thats because Bannon has been waging war against Ryan for years. For Bannon, Ryan is the embodiment of the globalist-corporatist Republican elite. A failed bill would be Bannons best chance yet to topple Ryan and advance his nationalist-populist economic agenda.
Publicly, Bannon has been working to help the bill pass. But privately hes talked it down in recent days. According to a source close to the White House, Bannon said that hes unhappy with the Ryan bill because it doesnt drive down costs and was written by the insurance industry.

They only need a repeal bill. Then it is turned over to the private market as it should be.
Bannon said that hes unhappy with the Ryan bill because it doesnt drive down costs and was written by the insurance industry.
Huh.
From a populist perspective, rising healthcare costs and people dying in the streets is fertile ground.
And then let them have their way with us without protections or regulation? Oh great.
Huh
++++
There is no Huh here. Bannon is a Freeper. There is no way that Bannon, in his heart of hearts, would be supporting Obama-care Lite. He supports Trump but cannot be unhappy that the bill failed in the House.
I personally have no clue about the right course on the health care bill, but I can know that Paul Ryan lost big time.
The man has no leadership instincts whatsoever which became very evident when he announced his non-support for Trump now or ever. Any verb can be substituted for that and it cannot be taken back. If a man ask a girl to marry him and she says that, it is over. If a man asks for a job and the potential employer says that, it is over.
All Ryan has is his globalist ideology and he is trying to reach out from that standpoint.
If I ever wanted to kill myself, Id climb to the top of Ryan’s ego and jump down to his IQ.
I have never felt that the insurance industry should not have regulations or that there should not be laws protecting consumers. I just don't think I should have government forcing me to have insurance coverage for gender reassignment surgery or pregnancy.
These cretins would like nothing better than to be in the minority and getting table scraps just as long as they can go to the best restaurants, go on fancy vacations paid for by lobbyists, and be part of the in-crowd so the liberal media won't call them names.
I now believe that the Dems and establishment Republicans are going to triage Trump's presidency, meaning that they're going to hold the fort on the statist, unconstitutional policies that are eating away and destroying this nation, and preventing Trump from implementing sweeping changes that we need now.
These GOPe are just like the democRATs. They think us idiots won’t be able to eat if there is not a government employee to chew our food for us.
Next time, don’t do something like that without warning. Made me laugh. That makes my scar hurt.
Everyone on FreeRepublic who insists that President Trump was 100% behind this bill should read this carefully.
Note that Bannon's primary complaints about the bill have nothing to do with "conservative purity" or anything of that sort. He was unhappy with the Ryan bill because it did absolutely nothing to address the biggest problem with Obamacare in the minds of Trump's supporters.
That is an epic statement, man. LMAO!
Yup, exactly. Bannon is no fool, and he has Ryan figured out to a T., as in traitor to our Republic. Open-borders, refugee-loving Paul Ryan has got to be on the take, and it wouldn't surprise me if he were on Soros' payroll.
Look at this smug bastard:
.
There is something wrong with this piece of filth:
Without pricing transparency, patent reform, reimportation, and anti trust action, even with a full repeal it’s hardly a market based system
To your list I would add frivolous lawsuit reform (which would lower unnecessary testing as well), competition across state lines and allowing lower cost clinics for more routine procedures.
Great picture of Bannon! Personally I know he bleeds red white and blue! One of the great comforts I have is that while Trump is being assailed from every side and surrounded by traitors, is that Bannon is at his side. He’s a patriot first! My husband and I are grateful for everything he’s doing to help Trump to save our nation.
