From the earlier article I posted: “With no antidote, Aconite is commonly called monkshood, helmet flower, wolfsbane, “chuanwu,” “caowu,” and “fuzi””

Good grief, YES. I thot I was on the one about the lady running folks over at Walmart.

Its been a confusing morning. I blame it on the lack of coffee.

I’d suck snot from a hobo’s nose before ingesting anything from a “Chinatown herbalist”. Good grief, woman! What were you thinking?

I’d normally recommend tea over coffee, but not on this thread.

Sum Ti Wong

From the full LA Times article (at the KTLA link):

“We don’t know what happened,” she said. “Something went wrong in this case.”

A photo of the "tea" is included. Looks like waste material left behind from high tide.

I steered away from those compounds since a tea was fingered as the cause and those compounds are subject to thermal breakdown. But since a small number of cases were reported (I hope that is true), perhaps the unfortunate victims did not sufficiently, steep their tea.

It does more closely relate to affected systems reported

Yeah, that's the aconite. Another Freeper mentioned it and it does fit the bill. Going through the "Boolean", thermal stability pointed in the amatoxin direction.

You're more likely to survive or be successfully treated for aconite toxicity.

Maybe hobbits would know the difference...but this bear simply does not partake of fungus.
