I think I see your point but a Christian community is an exception.
I think it transcends religious orientation.
On a basic biological/emotional level, men just seem to be in awe of women, in a way that women are not generally in awe of men. We see it plainly in very primitive art, mythology, etc.
Christianity has surely put women officially on a ‘pedestal’. But in some other religions, there is still evidence of this ‘awe’ - it may show up as a kind of fear, and the effort to subjugate the thing feared. But it is still awe driving the whole thing.
