China has a flamethrower drone, and a surprisingly good use for it

In the exciting world of remotely controlled multi-rotor flying machines — known popularly as “drones” — an increasing number of businesses are waking up to the idea that the technology could prove useful in their own line of work.
Already, movie production outfits big and small are making full use of camera-equipped drones, while other industries such as entertainment, agriculture, and real estate are also looking to incorporate the unmanned aerial vehicles into their operations.
Of course, regulatory hurdles still play a major part in the extent to which the technology can be used by commercial bodies, a matter that continues to present Amazon with huge challenges as it seeks to launch a drone-based delivery service.

It’s just a matter of time until “how to stop a dangerous robot” becomes a very hot topic. I’m referring to when robots start to be used for infantry combat, terrorism, home invasion, gang murders, child abductions, so forth. The time for these things is approaching, fast. If you’re thinking, “I’ll just shoot them”, think again. It’s quite feasible to put vital systems behind bullet-resistant shielding.
Suppressive fire, or wounding, is typically enough to slow down or stop a human, but a robot feels no pain and experiences no fear. So if one of the infernal things is coming at you or your family, what can you use to stop it?
FIRE. Envelope the thing in flames! Even if it’s in the process of knocking down your door. Better to risk burning down your house than let the thing get a hold of someone you care about and start ripping off limbs. Even if the flames don’t immediately destroy the thing, fire will most certainly disrupt its vision and other sensors. It can’t hurt you if it’s blind and can’t find you. So...we’ll be discussing various ways to procure, construct, and deploy compact flamethrowing equipment.
A flamethrowing drone like this is certainly an option for taking out other dangerous robots, at least while outdoors. The ultimate solution will probably be your own robot carrying a flamethrower. It probably should pack a fire extinguisher as well.
President Trump, consider using flame throwing drones on our borders.
IMO “future” drones will be equipped with LASERS. Imagine being able to eliminate something, anything you want “gone” or put completely out of service in an instant, and to do it from a distance versus having to be close up. There are lot of good and bad uses for drones, it all depends on the imagination and will to create them.
Someone will invent a Taser with electromagnetic waves that can take out a drone ... and/or take out most any machine that depends on electrical or electronic components.
1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2.A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Quaint, aren't they? Can you imagine anyone adhering to this? Businesses? Governments? People will desperately WANT robots that hurt people. It will be a feature.
I would have expected it to be shaped more like a dragon.

Those rules more aptly would apply to AI. Robots are distinct from AI. They are actualized software, or if you like, software in motion. Even when they are under remote control, there is still a dependency on software.
For example, if you were controlling a humanoid robot avatar, you would need software to keep the thing from falling over, to actualize your commands in terms of force levels and feedback, to decode and encode control signals, to manage the onboard batteries and dynamo (if it has one), and other things necessary to give you a manageable interface.
Though, it would be a good way to get rid of all those asinine sneakers hanging off of telephone and power lines over here.
