My cat used to sit on my shoulder on the way to, and from the vet, that is until he got to be 25 pounds. After that, I used a carrier.
I used to know a man who took his Parrot around with him in the car. Parrot sat on his shoulder and loved getting French fries at the fast-food place ;-)
