The threat to publish the names of suspected homosexuals in Tanzania has been defended by the deputy health minister in a fierce row on Twitter. Homosexual acts are illegal in the East African nation and punishable by up to 30 years in jail.
Those who advertised homosexual activities online would also be targeted, the politician warned. Tweeters accused him of homophobia and infringing on the right to freedom of expression online.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t AIDS one of the biggest killers in Africa?
We are also gonna need a list of buildings more than 5 or 6 stories tall to throw them from.
Forget it Jake, it’s Mother Africa.
I thought it was a badge of honor to be gay. Or is that just in America?
Julius Nyerere is spinning in his grave. Or maybe not.
Linked from there is a map of the world on where it is legal/illegal to be gay and punishments. Interesting how much the east differs from the west.

[Dr.] Hamisi Kigwangalla argued that homosexuality did not scientifically exist and was a social construct. Is this the comment? It wasnt quoted in the excerpt. Frankly, the burden of proof is not on him.
In a tweet written in Swahili and English, he said: Have you ever come across a gay goat or bird? Homosexuality is not biological; it is unnatural.
Who is it on? He’s a doctor or some sort should he cite his evidence? Maybe link to a website with evidence to backup his opinion. It sound like he bought his doctorate off the internet.
Who will determine ‘suspected homosexuality’, and how?
I can see this becoming a witch-hunt, with innocent people accused simply because someone has a political or other grudge against them. I’ll bet innocent people are already accused by enemies, in hopes that they’ll be put in prison.
As severe as these sentences seem on paper, rest assured that they are rarely enforced as severely as they sound, except in the most egregious instances (having sex with minors, spreading AIDS through homosexual hookups, advertising and overt activism, etc.) These presstitutes will magnify it all out of proportion, of course.
Where is the evidence to the contrary, to wit that homosexuality is biological?
If homosexuality is biological it must be a secondary trait intended to avoid passing on some other undesirable trait.Homosexuals don’t procreate.
I think we have had the conversation back when coming out was a “thing”. As “things” go it was probably IMHO the worst “thing” that could have happened. Much of the world still regards death as the solution to the problem, and that is a problem. Even the so called civilized world had the death penalty for homosexuals for hundreds of years. So, I’m just asking, is it a good “thing” to come out of the closet, or were “things” more reasonable and civil with homosexuals having to deal with their own issues rather than trying to get the whole entire world engaged in their cause?
When ‘coming-out’ was the thing, I feared for the homosexual people I knew.
Today, it seems that many more of them should be concerned about Muslim immigration....
I must have been thinking along similar lines: "ooooohhhh.... a social register!"
That’s a very interesting thought. I’ve often pondered whether Nature has a reason for homosexuality, but hadn’t thought it out very far...
Tanzania has a big muzzie population. I’ve been there and heard the calls to prayer.
