Yesterday, we got an email about this trailer, which is for an upcoming film called Kedi. The film, which takes its name from the Turkish word for cat, is a documentary about the myriad stray cats that live on the streets of Istanbul. Now, look, I will admit that I am the literal perfect audience for this film I love cats and I love Istanbul but even if you dont fall into both (or either!) of those categories, Kedi may be of interest, because it looks like a gorgeous piece of work. Director Ceyda Torun mixes beautiful location shots with close-in footage of these fascinating animals going about their daily routines, capturing both the life of a city and the life of the creatures that share its streets with humans. The film is in theaters February 10th, 2017, and I cant wait to see it.

Thank you. Some beautiful cats in the video. While the cats appear to be “stray”, the do not appear to be “feral”.

In 2009 we were on a cruise with tours in Greece and Istanbul besides other places and now I can remember. In one country we ran across many, many loose (wild (?) dogs and in another there were cats all over. After this article I now I remember. Dogs in Greece and cats in Istanbul. Istanbul by the way was very very interesting/pretty. But I wouldn’t go to Turkey now.

They put on such a façade of being dignified. It pains me when our cat does something that is undignified.

Those cats may be stray, but are not feral, with all the human contact they permit. Our ferals around here will not allow any touching. The stray that adopted us loves petting.
