Montclair State University's food pantry is tucked away down a maze of hallways in the student center. Like the hunger problem on campus itself, the pantry is not quite out in the open.

Lots of rice and hot dogs marked down to $1 for a pack of 10. Drove a 15 year old Mercury. Rode a bike across town to work.
The senior care centers are always hiring CNA’s.
And I bet every single one of these “starving snowflakes” have an $600 iPhone with unlimited data at $150/month, designers clothes and handbags/sun glasses, and always has money for weed or beer......
Forgive me if I have trouble feeling sorry for these anti-American leftist sh!ts these days.
In July, Marie took a quick trip home to Warsaw to visit her family. When she returned, she started to have dizzy spells and fainted several times. Undoubtedly, her near-starvation diet was to blame, but she never suspected it. One day, when Marie was playing with her newborn niece, Hela, Casimir told Marie she looked exhausted. But Marie ignored him. A few evenings later, she fainted in front of a friend, who hurried over to Bronya and Casimir's apartment to tell them what had happened. Casimir rushed to Marie's attic room to make sure she was all right. She was at her desk, studying intently. After rummaging around a bit, he was shocked to find that the only "food" in the room was a packet of tea. Marie admitted that all she had eaten since the previous evening was a pound of cherries and a few radishes. On a nearly empty stomach, she had studied until 3:00 in the morning and slept for only a few hours before walking to the Sorbonne.
I remember sharing an apartment with 4 others when getting my master’s degree. . . .a gal in the same building would brag all the time to us about how she didn’t have to pay for anything. . .did she have to share her apartment with anyone. . .no. She probably would receive one or more Obama phones today as well. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for my state in life and try to help others when I can. . .but this constant stiffing the government at the expense of hardworking taxpayers has to stop. One couple in our area got a divorce in order to receive more benefits and parked their trailers right next to each other. Duh!
I went hungry as a graduate student when I was making less than $7,000 a year AND PAYING MY TUITION AND ROOM AND BOARD MYSELF. To me it was just part of “paying my dues” to get what I wanted.
Bingo. I think we have a winner with a firm grasp of the obvious. And in a few years they will be whining about the $150,000 student loan they are required to pay back for their 6 year adventure to get a 4 year BA degree in General Studies.
I am not going to worry about a church that supports an on-campus pantry as an outreach to students, like on my campus.
I know of at least one kid who is dirt poor, going to college on scholarships, but only enough money for a 10 meal a week dining plan.
The pantry hands out simple foods, like peanut butter, Mac&Cheese, beans, etc.
No school or taxpayer funds are used, so no harm, no foul.
I thought being hungry in college was a rite of passage?
A couple of packs of flour tortillas, a pound of pinto beans and an onion made enough burritos to freeze for two weeks worth of lunches.
Quite protesting and get a job.
BUT, with any story, there is a hidden agenda ALWAYS! This is a plea to get more taxpayer money. Who can be against starving college age children???
I read of one college student who put himself through school on Chinese food. He said he took a how-to-cook-with-a-wok class and was amazed at how far you could stretch one pork chop and feel like you ate the whole hog.
Wife recently did the same thing with a small steak and by God, the kid was right. We ate for two days on that one small piece and never felt we didn't get enough. Amazing.
I had to make do with work-study and loans.
One of my jobs was working a coffee stand at the library.
My per month "income" was $200. My rent at some boarding house was $140.
So that left me with $60 per month for food.
$15/week in 1987 money.
I ate powdered potatoes, a loaf of bread, LOTS of beans, and some margarine.
I was so poor, I couldn't afford milk for my mashed potatoes, so they were made with hot water.
We sold muffins at my coffee stand, and would once in a while get a corn muffin.
I was lucky and obtained a single corn muffin which delighted me because I was able to eat it with my beans.
God, how much weight I lost!
My ass bleeds for those idiot snowflakes who have NO idea what it takes to actually suffer from anything.
Let alone whining and crying because their candidate for POTUS lost.
At least they had food.
WAY more than I did.
Pretty good without the hamburger if you ask me. Don’t forget the pot pies.
How many of these starving college students are obese or significantly overweight? I’m guessing more than a few.
I have a nephew that’s constantly hitting up his parents to send him money because he’s broke and hungry, but his Snapchat pictures show him partying and dining out regularly.
The reason that food banks (which serve a wonderful purpose) are not having soup lines is because the government has created EBT to cover for it.
With all of the government programs going on, no person in the US needs to go to bed hungry.
