FULL TITLE: Brady Bunch 'mom' Florence Henderson dies aged 82: Beloved actress who played Carol Brady passes away on Thanksgiving
The Brady Bunch's Florence Henderson has died from heart failure late on Thanksgiving Day, aged 82.
Henderson, who spent decades in the iconic role of Carol Brady, died surrounded by family and friends at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, her manager Kayla Pressman said. She was admitted to hospital on Wednesday.
TV's favorite sitcom mom, the actress was best known for The Brady Bunch which first aired in 1969 and continued in one form or another right up to the 1990s.
Maureen McCormick, who played the role of Marcia Brady on the show, has led tributes to the star.
She reacted to the death of her TV mom via Twitter, writing: 'Florence Henderson was a dear friend for so very many years and in my heart forever. Love and hugs to her family. I'll miss you dearly.'
Henderson had been in the audience of Dancing With the Stars just this past Monday to watch McCormick perform.

I haven’t watched TV in decades, but I’ve always heard that the Brady Bunch was one of the good ones. The libs hated it. May she rest in peace.
Can't understand why. It broke new ground because it was the first show that featured a non-traditional family.
I’m sad to learn that Florence Henderson has passed away. She brought fun and smiles to a lot of folks in primetime and reruns. Prayers to her family.
"In the 2000s, she became a public benefactor to the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana, some of the nuns having been her teachers during her early education. She appeared in a number of their promotional videos and helped in fundraising efforts. She won money for the Sisters on the game show Weakest Link and on a classic-television-themed episode of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire in 2001, winning $32,000 in their name. When Henderson appeared on the The Surreal Life, she made a point of showing respect for the Catholic Church and the Sisters of St. Benedict by refusing to dress in a nun's costume for a comedy skit."
Memory eternal!
Unfortunately she’s not that much older than I. Don’t recall that we labeled people as libs or conservatives back then. Was a good TV show and one our family never missed.
I didn’t watch it when it first came out but now see it on “METV”. Interesting to me how Marcia grew from a sort of frumpy looking little girl into a beautiful young lady. Sad that she eventually hit rock bottom but eventually straightened herself out.
I can’t recall where I read it but one of the cast mentioned visiting Florence when she was having something like a pool party in her back yard. She went around all the time topless.
Now this one breaks my heart.
She seemed fine just a few weeks ago.
Man this really sucks...
“She went around all the time topless.”
She probably got a lot more visitors when she was younger and perkier.
It's ALWAYS Marsha!! Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
Alright Jan, calm down!!
Interesting story about the nuns.
Hard to square that with the last ten years of her life that were spent giving magazine interviews on how to be a slut while drawing Social Security.
Some comparisons, thanks to Wikipedia:
Barbara Billingsley died in 2010 at 94 years.
Betty White is still alive and 94.
Shirley Jones is, too. 82.
RIP Mrs Brady
Thanks for the fun memories.
Sure, Jan.
;-)
May the angels sing her home
Don’t recall actors and actresses so overtly flapping their noise holes all the time at the media about their political views either, back then.
She was on Mark Simone’s show just last week - sounding fine. It must have been a sudden fatal heart attack.
