The Long Island home that served as the inspiration for the book The Amityville Horror and the subsequent films of the same name is being bought. [ ]
Before gaining fame with the release of the original movie in 1979, the house was where 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered his parents and four younger siblings in 1974.

It’s a nice old Gambrel roof colonial, riverfront, should have sold easily before now even with the history. But, riverfront is prime property. The lot is narrow but deep. The house was plopped down sideways on the lot, with the “front” entry on the side. Peculiar.
AND... You don’t even have to set your wakeup alarm for your early morning commute into the city; the house will wake you promptly at 3:15 AM!
Get out.
Interesting you’re on a thread about Amityville NY, and Babylon is only five miles east.
I've seen that often with houses in the inner suburbs. A way to pack more lots onto a street. It is a bit odd in that you likely end up with your kitchen windows facing the neighbors house instead of the back yard.
Needs an echo. Get (get get) Out (out out).
I guess less than fifty miles from the major city is inner suburbs these days.
There are a lot of fine old houses designed for a narrow, deep lot that have the front entry on the gable end facing the street, with the rooms arranged appropriately. As it stands, the wings are facing front and back, likely with a bedroom or secondary spaces in the wrong place. Wasted the view that they paid through the nose for, in all likelihood.
Hillary has reportedly bought the house, causing the demons to say: “Screw this, WE’RE getting out!”
Shame that the Carmichael home (The Changeling) in Seattle burnt down.
There's that, and the fact 6 family members were murdered in the house. That just makes it way creepy.
Live in an old house now. Shortly after moving in there were a few odd events. Not saying it was ghosts, but more like having the hair on the back of your neck stand up and sensing a presence. Hasn't occurred for many years. Perhaps spirits that inhabit the old house just needed to meet the new homeowner. Now I don't bother them and they don't bother me.
I don’t know about your religious beliefs, but mine says there are no “spirits” left to wander this earth, that such things are demonic in origin. But, I’ve experienced it myself, and felt no evil, no threat, no attempt to interact or manipulate. As far as the benign sorts of things like that, I’ve just come to accept that time isn’t as linear as it appears or as we believe. Sometimes, strong emotions or really momentous events sort of linger, like echoes. That’s the best explanation I have, and it’s how I’ve made peace with it, myself.
Yeah, I don't think I could get past that. I don't really believe in ghosts or hauntings (42 years old and have never seen a ghost). But there would just be something unsettling about living in the same house 6 people were murdered in, just call it bad vibes or whatever
My college roommate lived at the end of the street that this house sits on. So I drove by it and it looks weird, not demonic but like an architectural mistake. Like trying to fit a size 13 foot into a size 10 shoe. My roommate went to school with him and I also understand that Ronnie Defeo was cruel abusing animals and the like in grade school. I don’t remember the details but I don’t think the dad was an upstanding citizen either. But I wouldn’t take the house it was offered for free. The history is too sad.
Ding!Ding!Ding! You win the thread! ROFLMAO!!
The Changeling was one of the creepiest, scariest movies ever. And it didn’t rely on gore to get it done. And George C. Scott was as amazing as ever.
I live in a hundred year old school house. It’s quite breezy.
Ya know, there is a logical reason he woke up at 3:15. Three-ish is the time trees and plants give off their pollen and spores. Your nose gets stuffed up so that wakes you. It’s also been a few hours since your last trip to the bathroom so between your nose and your other end, you’re going to get up.
