I am presenting the news and you decide.
Michigan restaurateur gets another chance to fight deportation
"A decade later, however, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began seeking his deportation, citing his past ties to the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, which had been designated a terrorist organization in 1997. Officials said Parlak did not initially reveal his PKK activities or his conviction.
"The bombing was likely carried out by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), and Turkish officials have already blamed the group for the explosion."
No, Muslims in Michigan are all peaceful, patriotic Americans who oppose terrorists...no wait I’m thinking of that TV show with Kiefer Sutherland.
Obama has Islamic sleeper cells planted all over the U.S, waiting to strike fear into the hearts of liberals, who will quickly give in and apologize, offering them whatever they want.
How can this be? All lies! Why the head of homeland security is a moozlum...and the head of the cia...and Clown Prince nobama, the resident. Our “leaders” assure us that all moozlums are peaceful and peace-loving.
Actually, the sleeper cells preceeded the Muslim Monster of the Beltway.
just the tip of the iceberg...of the IslamoNazi invasion army in America
thanks to Obama
Can’t click on the link on my phone, but if this is the guy, I’ve eaten at his restaurant. Very good.
I have a farm nearby and eat at this fellow’s restaurant all the time. I have met him but would not say that I know him, let alone count him as a friend.
There is a long history of Turkey engaging in human rights abuses against Kurds. It is a leap to suppose that this fellow is either a Muslim or a terrorist. It is also worth pointing out that he left Turkey five years before the PKK was designated a terrorist organization. In any event, it is a mistake to lump this fellow in with, say, ISIS. That is most definitely not the case.
By the way, from Wikipedia: As a whole, the Kurdish people are adherents to a large number of different religions and creeds, perhaps constituting the most religiously diverse people of West Asia. Traditionally, Kurds have been known to take great liberties with their practices.
Too far for me to drive...
I wonder, Paul46360, if we are neighbors. If 46360 is a zip code, then I imagine that you are just over the state line from me in Michigan City. My farm is in Berrien County, MI, though my full time residence is in Ann Arbor, MI.
Turkey is one of the more interesting places in the world. My work even now takes me there occasionally, but I do not presume to know anywhere near enough to render any informed judgments about anything, except to write that the Kurds have been so long-suffering, it seems, that were I in the place of that restaurant owner I strongly suspect that I too would oppose the Turks, the Iraqis, the Iranians, etc. I am pretty sure that I would not be a terrorist, but on the surface I find it quite unlikely that he was either.
I appreciate and value your thoughts. Any more that you have to offer on this subject would be most welcome. I think you and I are in general agreement. If, in fact, he participated in any way in terrorist activities, I am not sympathetic.
On the other hand, Erdogan is rounding up everyone imaginable following the attempted coup. As I read the news, he is using the opportunity to take an especially hard line on Kurds. The restaurant owner has been in the US (legally) for a quarter-century, raised children, operated a successful business, and presumably been a model resident. I would be inclined to make sure that he has full due process before turning him over to the powers that be in Turkey right now.
I know of people when I lived up there that really went to bat for him. The whole Berrien County community was there to support him...maybe I am being too critical or just don’t trust people. I guess time will tell.
