Word for The Day, Monday,9/26/16
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
bon mot; noun
1. a witty remark or comment; clever saying; witticism.
Etymology: 1725-35; < French: literally, good word; see boon2, motto
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
We went from 85 degrees on Friday to “darn, close the windows its chilly” on Sunday morning.
overcast and upper 70s still here.
The days aren’t so bad, but the last couple mornings have been chilly. It was about 52 this morning. Haven’t used a jacket yet, but glad for long sleeves.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the errors here in attempting to pluralize this word. It would be “bons mots,” since French modifies adjectives as well as nouns.
por supuesto!
Thank you!
She probably figures it will work because it always did for him-but she certainly has all the charm of a screeching harpy right out of mythology.
My friend and co-worker and I were working on the water line leaks-still not all found/fixed-we were talking about her supposed accomplishments-he said well Bill has fixed, bought and bribed everything she supposedly did, she needs a man to do everything for her, and whines about unfair/sexist if she has to do anything all by her little self-we agreed she is in no way an independent woman-she is nothing and nowhere without her husband-just a weak sister with a violent temper who wants to be Eva Peron.
I’d invite the bitch to live my life for a week-right now-living in what is basic shelter where you keep one of those guns she hates so much close by, because the neighbor a few acres away might be dealing/cooking meth, having to fetch water the way I am right now, dealing with your own shelter and vehicle maintenance, figuring out how to keep warm in winter without central heat, and how to budget for every little thing when there is little work because of the economy HER f’ing political cronies created-and doing it all on her own with no one else-that is my idea of being independent-I’d bet real money she doesn’t last even 24 hrs...
If the way other famous people who have Parkinson’s is an example, Hillary is not doing as well as them years after diagnosis-so I’d wonder how long she has had it-and kept it a secret-was she still secretary of state when she learned she had it?
It went from 90 to 78 yesterday with a cool front and raining-it is 76 now-supposed to get down in the high 50’s/low 60’s the next few nights...
Hillary has bon motley lately.
