Boston Red Sox fans who attend Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees will no longer receive David Ortiz bobbleheads.
The team promised to distribute Ortiz bobbleheads to the first 15,000 fans entering Fenway Park before Boston's game against the Yankees, but Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said he elected to postpone the promotion after doing a quality check.
"I thought the bobbleheads were an inaccurate portrayal of David," Kennedy said. "To go further, I thought the facial features were racially insensitive."

Well I think all the bobblehead dolls are stupid and I’ve never wanted one.
How could they fail to do their “quality check” of the image before the things were produced??? I’d think that they’d have their act together before they decide to make 15,000 of the items.
I guess the mouth/teeth are supposed to be “racially insensitive”??

The same thing happened to the nationals last year. Jayson Werth’s bobble head might actually be worse than the Ortiz one. Not for the squeamish.

Saw an Olive Garden commercial before. Big Italian family that LOVES to eat, blah blah.

That's why I think there's a decent possibility that the bobblehead was an intentional jab a Ortiz for his failed (steroid) drug test and his subsequent "Dominican Milkshake" comments attempting to make light of it.
A couple of years ago some race-baiters tried to rile up Italian-Americans about the Olive Garden commercials (where they bring the grandparents from the old country there to eat); they got no takers. The young Italian-Americans, rather than taking offense, thought the commercials were goofy but very funny...
I find them a little tasteless but I dont give a dam.

I’m not Italian, but I don’t take offense from Guinness commercials pretending we live in 2010 as though it is 1910; anyone stupid enough to buy into that crap is a born customer anyway...
