After grabbing legal power, bureaucrats are amassing firepower. Its time to scale back the federal arsenal.
Special agents at the IRS equipped with AR-15 military-style rifles? Health and Human Services Special Office of Inspector General Agents being trained by the Armys Special Forces contractors? The Department of Veterans Affairs arming 3,700 employees?
The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). In its escalating arms and ammo stockpiling, this federal arms race is unlike anything in history. Over the last 20 years, the number of these federal officers with arrest-and-firearm authority has nearly tripled to over 200,000 today, from 74,500 in 1996.
What exactly is the Obama administration up to?
On Friday, June 17, our organization, American Transparency, is releasing its OpenTheBooks.com oversight report on the militarization of America. The report catalogs federal purchases of guns, ammunition and military-style equipment by seemingly bureaucratic federal agencies. During a nine-year period through 2014, we found, 67 agencies unaffiliated with the Department of Defense spent $1.48 billion on guns and ammo. Of that total, $335.1 million was spent by agencies traditionally viewed as regulatory or administrative, such as the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Mint.
Some examples of spending from 2005 through 2014 raise the question: Who are they preparing to battle?
The Internal Revenue Service, which has 2,316 special agents, spent nearly $11 million on guns, ammunition and military-style equipment. Thats nearly $5,000 in gear for each agent....

Because of all the responsible folks who they are soaking with taxes - they have no reason to use them against those who pay no taxes and receive “refunds”.....
A government of the government, by the government, for the government.
The “Standing Army” our Founders warned us about?
An army of leftists, just as well equipped, just as well trained, as the US military, as Obama suggested was needed.
We outnumber them by 20 to 1 or more.
Because they are supposedly civilian not subject to the honor of military service.
Obama told us in early 2008 that he want a civilian force as well armed, fund and as strong as the military. He is implementing that plan daily. He and his ‘government’ are traitors to freedom.
The very same reason that they control Healthcare
(**except for the EXEMPT) and ignore Congress
and target conservatives and Patriots.
epa? fda?
They’re worried that the people are becoming rebellious. Especially once the SHTF.
In the Old Movies the Revenuers are never armed and they always get chased off
To enforce “voluntary” remittance of income taxes? Oh, wait...that’s so 19th century.
Bingo! We have a winner!
I understand Lois Learner may be contracted out to manage who gets on the no fly and terror watch lists.
My money is on the Marines.
“...What exactly is the Obama administration up to?...”
We will all find out in the next 200 odd days.
An army of leftists is an army that can easily be induced to defeat itself from the inside out.
Leftists - for all their soaring rhetoric - can’t sacrifice for a goal larger than themselves. Leftism offers nothing higher than the self, and it always comes down to that in the end.
All their drama queenery, all their fine-sounding words, all their posturing and virtue-signaling, are just covers for the empty little mediocrities each one of them sees when they look in the mirror.
They can only prevail as long as they can put on a show. In the world of symbols, of appearances, of gestures, they look like heros.
In the real world of things that go “bang” and things that go “crunch,” they melt.
