The killer read his Bible. He drank. Heavily. It was a fall night in 2006, when Bradley Waldroup walked out of his rural trailer in southeastern Tennessee, carrying his .22 caliber hunting rifle. His estranged wife and her friend, Leslie Bradshaw, had just pulled up to drop off the Waldroups four children. Waldroup began arguing with his wife and Bradshaw, who was unloading the car. Drawing his gun, Waldroup shot Bradshaw eight times, killing her. He used a knife to cut her head open.
He then chased his wife with the knife and a machete, managing to slice off one of her pinkies before dragging her into the trailer. . . . Miraculously, his wife managed to slip his grasp and escape.
Three years later, in a county court, Waldroup admitted the whole thing. He said he had snapped. Im not proud of none of it, he told the judge. Convicted of felony murder, he faced the death penalty.
To save his life, his legal team took an unusual approach, never before admitted in a capital-murder case. They sent a sample of Waldroups blood to the molecular genetics lab at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Lab techs there were told to look at a specific gene. Sure enough, they found Waldroup had a genetic variant on his X chromosome, one that coded the enzyme monoamine oxidase-A (MAOA).
Jurors ruled out the death penalty for killer Bradley Waldroup after lawyers argued a gene variant helped predispose him to violence.
(snip)
Is there a genetic link among serial killers like Ted Bundy, mass murderers like Adam Lanza, and roadside shooters like the Uber driver, Jason Dalton, who police charged with killing six people in a random rampage in Michigan this past February?

Couldn’t have any thing to do with the fact that his wife ran off with another women.
So if people with this gene are predisposed to murder how long will it be before someone proposes categorizing everyone and then imprisoning or murdering everyone with that gene?
“Because if it saves just one life...”
“It’s for the children!”
Genetics of terrorists? of ISIS leaders? of their subjects? Is this even a factor, or is it basically their “religion”?
And that couldn’t have hand any thing to do with the fact he was a murderous loony.
Here’s one more thing for which people will not be held responsible if the left has its way.
It boggles the mind how they (the left) STILL want God kicked out of everything. Are the results of that not obvious?
Would Popular Science have felt safe in asking this question, if they’d had a less politically-correct example to provide?
“Can Your Genes Make You Kill?”
No, but watching what politicians have done to our country might push some people over the edge.
We are just electro-chemical reactions and have no spirit and no free will. I am not responsible for anything. No one is responsible for anything.
There is no God. Nothing has any meaning.
Hell is coming to Earth.
It’s clear that his IQ was pretty low if he thought a .22 would be an appropriate weapon for a mass shooting.
If they found the “killer” gene, how come they haven’t found the “gay” gene?
This is idiocy.
Everyone has a variant of MAO A.
Some variants are correlated with violent behavior under certain comorbidities.
That’s all.
The original work done by Bruner to show that the loss of MAO A was correlated with an increased aggressive behavior was not associated with murderous behavior.
And that is with a total loss of MAO A function.
There is an even more reliable predictor of violence. Islam.
I want to know how someone draws a rifle (other than on paper). One would shoulder a rifle, aim a rifle or point a rifle but I have never before heard of anyone “drawing” a rifle.
I guess he could have been on horseback and had it sheathed.
In observing our varied and complex world around me over the many years I’ve been blessed to live and breathe on God’s green earth, I’ve found that there are few things that cannot be made worse by the input of a wife’s bitch friend.
I does say she was with a friend, which is not the same thing as "running off."
Where did you get that?
What a remarkably vicious thing to say.
No they cannot. The left wants to erase personal responsibility. “scientists” rush to their aid.
Dear Mrs. Don-O:
As we all know, marriages have their ups and downs. Speedbumps even. But the two primary people involved can many times work it out, and do.
But then their is a class of people who not only don’t want the marriage to work out, but actively seek to destroy the marriage and sense of peace in that home. They exist solely to be troublemakers for their own debased entertainment.
They attempt to create dissention and hostility where none exists previously, in areas they have no business being in. They engage in whisper campaigns to harden the hearts of the married couple, so as to make them unhappy like they are.
I am, of course, referring to the wife’s bitch friend - the party girl that never grew up, and resents the husband for taking her fun time buddy away.
I say this not out of anger or “viciousness”, but rather as an observation on life and the human experience. And of course it has nothing to do with the above article and the loser white trash husband or the wife’s lesbo lover.
The author of the article calls the .22 a "hunting rifle".
