I assume anyone of extreme wealth is probably audited regularly. They are the folks who have the means and ability to push the letter of the law to its limit when it comes to taxes owed.

EVERYONE should legally try to pay as little taxes as possible, unless you enjoy seeing your hard-earned money go to waste.
I may have missed it but I’ve never heard of George Soros, Tom Steyer or any of the other left wing Billionaires being audited. I think the Clintons may have been audited and had to pay the IRS but otherwise no penalties or probation.

I know a couple of Silicon Valley millionaires - they live quite lives, give back to the community and are not very politically active. Both get audited at least every other year. My FIL was a very successful contractor he used to get audited every year, the IRS usually owed him $$$$.
