This word gets thrown around so much, yet almost never defined.
I even asked a gay guy —who LOVED the word— what it meant, and he did NOT know.

Campy is a clumsy, tongue-in-cheek form of humor. It knows that the performance is bad, but rather than try to disguise or hide the fact, it revels in the fact that everyone (audience and performer) knows how bad it is.
