I did some work in Ketchikan. Sort of a love-hate relationship with the tourists. The locals like the money the tourists bring in, but also like the peace and quiet once they leave. I suppose it would be similar to ski-resort towns and other tourist areas that are seasonal.

I remember some years ago there were Cape Cod residents standing on the bridges on Labor Day as most tourists left.
They were carrying signs saying “Good riddance!” etc.
