A Colorado man says he was kicked out of a baseball game after he tossed a home run ball back onto the field.
Brandon Sanchez told KDVR that he, his wife and stepsons were enjoying the Colorado Rockies-San Francisco Giants game Tuesday night when the Giants hit a home run.
The home run ball landed in Sanchez's hands.
Although his stepsons were excited, Sanchez said he couldn't care less.
I threw the ball back just because it was San Franciscos home run and I wanted the Story home run ball, he said, referring to Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story.
Moments later, security approached Sanchez and told him he and his family had to leave, KDVR reports.
And were like What? Just for throwing the ball back out on the field?' he said.
Sanchez says he had no clue that he had broken a rule.
According to the Rockies rules, At no time should a foul or home run ball be thrown back on the field. Violators will be subject to ejection.
Sanchez told KDRV that he learned his lesson the hard way and plans on holding on to the next home run ball he catches.
Ditz!
Don’t mess with the Jandarm.
Um, no he didn’t learn anything.
He needs to become a Cubs fan.
He will be welcome at Wrigley Field.
I’ve seen this happen a few times, but I don’t recall seeing anyone tossed out for it ... though I suppose throwing things on the field will/should get ya tossed!
I’ve seen it done, but folks, if you’re throwing it back, your team is in the field and you could conk one of your own guys.
I heard that if a Cubs fan at Wrigley does not throw the home run ball back onto the field the penalty is a public lynching.
Every stadium I’ve been to has a ton of signs that says don’t throw things onto the field.
That's right. Cob roller Sanchez learned nothing. Kick him out.
I thought that was what you were supposed to do!!!
* 3.16 for you pagans who don't get the joke
Reminds me of the time my friend and I were sitting field level at Angles stadium. We always hated the beach balls people bring to games to bat around in the crowd because we didn’t come to the game to play with stupid beach balls. Well when one of them came near enough he pounced on it and spiked it onto the play field in order to be rid of it. Within 30 seconds two security guys appeared and escorted him out of the stadium all for a dumb beach ball.
Oh, that’s good (missed that one!)
Considering I don’t care one whit about base or any other ball, I would at least not throw it back but give it to somebody like a kid nearby who would like it.
I didn't. That's funny right there... ;-)
rules are rules but....but the coaches\players\ballboys-girls can throw balls into the stands.
In some stadiums that’s the tradition. Good ol baseball, a stack of unwritten rules high enough to make sure everybody breaks one.
Yeah...but not a game ball.....I can understand objects that don’t belong on the field....
The team owes the guy an apology and his San Francisco team should send him an autographed ball....
I never got this. If I have to pay $10+ beers I am keeping anything I catch.
