A lockdown is in effect at the ExxonMobile refinery in Baytown after a security breach.
Company officials say around 7:30am, a person went inside the plant without permission.
"We take matters of this nature very seriously and are working closely with Baytown Police Department," says Todd Spitler, spokesman for Exxon Mobil.

Ping.
When I was a boy our town had a large oil refinery. Not a gate or fence in sight. We could enter the refinery pretty much at will, and while exotically dangerous (oil refineries are pretty dangerous things) it was perfectly legal and usually undetected, let alone reported.
Things are a lot different now, especially since 9-11.
I lived in the Baytown area for over fifty years and this is the first lockdown I’ve heard of happening at the ExxonMobil refinery.
Is that the one that just had the explosion and massive fire?

It’s the same refinery, but the fire was not a big one.
The media likes to exaggerate these things.
Just my opinion but our refineries aren’t protected enough. I drive by them all the time. It doesn’t take much of an imagination to cause great havoc — especially for crazed people willing to die for their cause.
This refinery is very secure.
So perhaps someone needed to go back and try to finish the job?
I have no idea what’s going on.
Too bad our current pRESIDENT isn’t as serious about the security of our nation.
Good. If terrorists could get just a couple of somewhat sofiscated weapons into the USA (I won’t offer examples), they could cause a lot of problems. And they wouldn’t need to get through security to do it either.
Drones.
The next security challenge...
There’s a terrorist training facility...I mean a mosque less than a mile away from this plant...just saying...
True. A grenade launcher could cause a lot of problems too. It wouldn’t be very difficult to get them in with our open borders. I would prefer to see some of the roadways and areas surrounding these facilities more secure.

Maybe he was lookin’ for love in all the wrong places?
I didn’t know that.
I agree.
