Pfizer just announced, that based on the Treasury Departments new rules, just created, that they will NOT be moving forward with the merger / inversion.
A government that punishes logical behavior. You know, bring American jobs back! /src
Obama’s Marxist government has spoken.
Trump effect.
Obama is really good at building walls against companies and citizens leaving, just not so good about keeping illegals out or fixing the reasons that people want to leave.
How’s trump have anything to do with this.
Duh!
Your business is the government’s business in Socialist Amerika. When a farmer has for the past 40 years had to apply to the USDA for permission to let his starving cows graze on wheat growing on his land during a drought, the belief that this is a free country is totally unfounded.
The Founders would be aghast seeing what lousy Americans we are that let the central government take most of our freedom from us .and charge us more and more for their comfort while doing it.
It didn’t hurt the stock price though, up 2% yesterday in a down market.
We have become the Hotel California of the tax world.
I hate that this happened. The inversion is a bad thing but it’s the government that sets a bad environment encouraging companies to do this in the first place. Instead of government retreating and eliminating the bad environment they add more government rules, killing the deal and wasting Pfizer’s $150mm break-up fee based on de facto regulation changes. The logical conclusion to all this is that eventually you will have to get the government to sign off on a PO to get pens from Staples. Just awful.
Doesn’t tell me much about the story. Does tell me about you.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
The regulations these types of companies already have to deal with are mind boggeling. Heck even your local doctor has a massive amount of regulation to contend with.
The irony is delicious.
