Have you heard? The Establishment is conspiring to steal the GOP nomination from Donald Trump! Its true. I read it somewhere. There have been secret meetings all over the country of Establishment types plotting how best to deny what the voters want, and what they want is Donald Trump!
At least, thats how the story goes from the paranoid and the media desperate to attract them to their shows.
Its pathetic.
Heres some breaking news for you: If Donald Trump acquires 1,237 delegates to the GOP convention he will be the nominee. If he doesnt, he may not be the nominee. Its that simple.
The requirement to become the Republican nominee is plain as day get a majority of the delegates to vote for you and youve won. For conspiracy nuts, the word majority is replaced with the most. But the most is known as a plurality. A plurality is not a majority. And if you dont get a majority, you are not guaranteed the nomination.
There are no smoke-filled rooms where billionaires and The Establishment decide the fate of the world or the party. Thats simple-minded pap spewed by people who either are ignorant of reality or preaching to the ignorant in hopes of keeping them as readers, listeners or viewers.
Sorry, its true.
Yes, billionaires have influence and access, but youd have to be Bernie Sanders to believe they run the show.
Mitt Romney wasnt the GOP nominee in 2012 because billionaires made him the victor; he was the nominee because he amassed more than a majority of delegates. In other words, voters chose him.
Its not a conspiracy; its math.
If Trump doesnt get to 1,237 delegates, he will have to work out what he so humbly tells the world hes best at a deal.
If no one has a majority of delegates, its game on. Those are the rules, and he knew that going in.
In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was basically an also-ran for the Republican nomination. But no candidate had a majority of delegates, and after multiple ballots, Lincoln emerged with the victory.
Lincoln and his allies were able to persuade delegates to switch their votes to him; in other words, he cut deals. He played by the rules.
Donald Trump knows thats how it works; he simply doesnt like it. So he and his media sycophants have set out to manipulate people into thinking anything short of his being named the nominee would be an injustice.
The simple fact is if Trump doesnt get to 1,237 delegates the odds are against him being the nominee. Not because of some conspiracy hatched in a steakhouse or some island somewhere, but because of Donald Trump himself.
There are not many people left in the country Donald Trump hasnt insulted. He cut deals with Chris Christie and Ben Carson to get them to back him and bring their delegates along. Unfortunately for Trump, they bring only eight delegates all won by Carson. Unless Trump gets to 1,229 delegates, hell need to appeal to a wider audience and thats provided Carsons delegates deliver.
But to whom outside of his supporters does Trump appeal? No one. Youve either bought in or youre not interested.
Trump simply cant be anything but Trump, and part of being Trump is ridiculing anyone who doesnt fall in line. There is a large percentage, perhaps a majority, of GOP delegates who wont fall in line; who dont believe a man who cant be bound by adult behavior will be bound by the Constitution. Barring something dramatic, they wont go to Trump on a second ballot or any ballot after that.
And it will all be well within the rules; not stealing.
If his sycophants threaten to walk out of the convention if the person with the most delegates but not a majority isnt the nominee, I say let them go. They and Trump arent interested in the rules. They know the rules. Theyre interested in an outcome. For Trump its about power; for the media lapdogs its about access and ratings. Its not about the country for either.
There are a couple of simple ways to avoid all of this: 1) Trump could win 1,237 bound delegates and secure the nomination on the first ballot; or 2) Trump and company could stop lying and being such jackasses and start trying to win people over. Neither seems possible at this point.
So as primary season rolls on to Cleveland, its important to know youre being lied to, lied about and played. The average primary voter may not know it, but the average GOP delegate does. If Trump doesnt reach a majority there is no expectation or obligation he be the nominee. Being the frontrunner is not the same as being the winner.
In the end, what made Donald Trump might be his undoing. His attitude and actions, although entertaining to his followers, have isolated him. If he goes down it wont be a conspiracy; it will be completely fair and his own fault. Actions have consequences, even for billionaires.
To paraphrase Jeremiah Wright his chickens may be coming home to roost.
It’s OK because thousands of us are going to vacation in Cleveland this summer. I hear that the have beautiful beaches on the shores of Lake Erie!
Another stupid article by a anti-Trump fool. Facts...Cruz and Kasich have zero chance of winning the nomination via the primary contests...they cannot statistically reach 1237...so, Trump has pretty much already won...he has won about 75% of the contests thus far. The ONLY reason they are staying in the race is to deny the peoples choice. Between the two of them they hope to bleed enough votes/delegates to prevent Trump from getting 1237 delegates. If they can succeed at that, each hopes to then steal the nomination in the contested convention. Those two then prefer and have chosen to keep the deep and growing divide in the party alive and perhaps fracture forever the party for their own self interests. That is not just shameful and despicable...but is showing the loyalty of traitors. So, this author can go screw himself and his foolishness.
Roger Stone also pointed out that even the so called “bound” delegates are at risk because the Republican Party is choosing many of them instead of the Trump team. Trump’s people have to be on the committees that select the delegates otherwise Cruz or others or the Party establishment itself makes the selection - thus jeopardizing a Trump nomination even if he reaches over the 1237 threshold. The establishment is playing dirty politics & Trump should be aware of the games they are playing. The selection of the delegates is as important if not even more than winning the primary because the delegates cast the votes that count at the Convention.
so, Trump has pretty much already won.
HAHAHA
In the reality of elections, yes...perhaps you would like to argue otherwise...I didn’t think so...
He’s saying all of this is out in the open?
Nonsense.
If you really believe that, I have a bridge I want to sell you.
When has there ever been an election that wasnt stolen?
I thought that the delegates were selected at the state level- not at the convention....
“When has there ever been an election that wasnt stolen?”
Maybe you can enlighten me with a few examples of elections that were...albeit not the last Obama one...I do believe that was stolen. But, most elections are legit...
Besides, do you want elections stolen? How would that justify denying the American people supporting Trump from victory by stealing the election?
The delegates are selected at the state level - but Republican Party insiders chairing the committees are selecting the delegates that vote at the Convention.
here’s the uncomfortable truth; it’s the party’s nomination. while I think it would be a massive mistake to steal the nomination from trump should he win it fair and square, it’s theirs to dispose of as they choose.
don’t like it, run independent. but the republicans party decides who gets their party’s nomination.
It is true. Visit “stop the steal” to learn more about the Cleveland vacation. Let’s show Soros and the GOP that we can match their activists multiples for one. And if info is not up it soon will be. Don’t let others be swayed by negative press. Either we want a wall, a growing economy and a president who means his oath of office, or the masses are asses that can be bought off with media bias.
Amen and well said
crickets
The frontrunner is not even in the discussion after the first vote, and I'm supposed to believe there's no conspiracy for Cleveland.
We might think Trump is belly-aching, but the reality is he’s attempting to get maximum leverage at every stage of the nominating process — which you would expect from a businessman with his reputation.
We all need to take a step-back from the News cycle and take a deep breathe.
So, this article being nothing but unvarnished truth, you guys and gals are going to Occupy Cleveland. I see a future for you in the BLM movement. They’re always looking for some fools to March/camp protest, knock a few heads, whatever.
If the Donald does not win 1237 prior to the first ballot, then there IS no theft of anything because there is nothing to steal. He still has yet to win a majority, that’s what this is all about. Heck, we should quit bitching on both sides. We’re getting what we always wanted, a real contest, between two conservatives, that will run to the wire, and make every state’s primary an important one.
Game on. I’m voting for our nominee, whomever he is. It would be a shame for the MSM to have the optics of Occupy Cleveland to be the meme from our convention.
Another disingenuous Townhall article trying to condition the public to the idea that cheating isn’t really cheating.
